Brunch at Union Kitchen and Tap in Encinitas, California was a good time.
We arrived early because I knew they did not have a dedicated kitchen. But they did have a menu that designated which items were gluten free. I also asked my standard kitchen processing cross contamination questions and since we were literally the only patrons at that moment, I felt fine with the decision to dine there.
I also did ask for them not to toast the bread any where. So the bread came out untoasted and it was actually really good gluten free bread.
The BLT was delicious! The bacon was huge and really tasty! I would eat there again as long as it wasn’t busy…that’s just me.
Small selection of items that are gluten free. You can't go wrong with the steak. Servers were very knowledgable and confident that their chefs will get it right. I had the stewed kale and New York strip with a side of shrimp. Pub feel and loud but I didn't get sick and that's what matters most. See pics of food and menu attached!
Enjoyed a leisurely brunch here this weekend. Server (Noah) was very informed on gluten free items/substitutions/inquiries, and quite polite about it all as well! Had eggs, sausage, and the Kennebec frites. GF is clearly labeled on the menu, and easy to sub out items. The only thing I wanted to indulge in and could not was a Bloody Mary, they use the Ballast Point Mary Mix which has beer in it. Overall, highly recommend!
Great food and they pretty much always have a cider option on tap. Its noisy and pretty crowded. Staff is knowledgeable and gf options are listed on the menu. They also have bar trivia night.
Their GF menu for the most part is limited to dinner. I had Dark & Stormy cocktails. They were delicious. I had their Kansas City BBQ Wings. They were excellent! For dinner I tried the Shrimp with Grits. Different, but very good. I like the originality of this place and the atmosphere is great.
They have a GF menu but don't bring out for lunch. So not a lot of options.
Union Kitchen and Tap is a great location, near the beach and in a friendly envrionment. I love how the windows are open during the day to let the fresh air and light shine through. They have plenty to offer from beers on tap, speciality cocktails, and even Gluten Free items on the menu. In general, Union has lots of offer and their food is fresh, natural, and locally raised to serve their customers some delicious meals! Yum, I will definitely be back and recommend this place to my friends. Might I add, the ambiance of the restaurant made me feel welcomed and with my friends there just made my night fun.
Not only does Union have incredible cocktails, they have a large variety of gluten free items on the menu. The atmosphere is fun and lively, decor rustic yet modern, and they have all around good service. The happy hour prices are very reasonable, and its a great place to hit right after a long day at the beach.
Union Kitchen is such a fun place! It has such a great atmosphere and the food is awesome! I am such a fan of the shrimp and grits and it's even better cause it's gluten free!
My friend from Encinitas recommended me to go to Union Kitchen. I love the open space and the server get it. She recommended me bacon, tomato flatbread...it is homemade bacon, so yummy! I like it a lot, I will go there again!
