Had the GF veggie pizza and got so sick.
They have a GF menu. I was skeptical because of the nature of the restaurant (pasta, burgers, etc). I ordered a Cobb salad. The waitress spoke little English but she got another staff member to come tell me that the salad would take longer because they were cleaning pans to ensure no cross contamination. I ate with confidence and had no issues!
I have Celiac disease. Who would have thought that a restaurant famous for pizza is also one of the places I feel safest eating gluten free? The staff at the Warwick RI location are well trained regarding Celiac and food allergies. Let them know you are gluten free, and they take it seriously and are very careful about food preparation. My meal is always brought to the table separately. This is one of the few restaurants where I can eat the rice, (most places use seasoning packets that contain gluten). Also they have Udi buns for hamburgers. Five stars.
I was on the brink of giving up trusting restaurants following many occurrences of sickness immediately after eating something I was led to believe was safe for Celiacs. Uno's gave me a leap of faith. The pepperoni pizza is outstanding. The crust was so good it had me skeptical of what I was eating. No reaction whatsoever. This location displays an awareness for what Celiacs need. Do not be discouraged just because the menu reads GS for 'gluten sensitive'.
I have celiac. This place is unsafe. Food tastes great. They do not guarantee no contamination and for good reason. Food contaminated 3 out of 3 times. Yes, I really did keep trying them.
Very impressed! I have Celiacs, and am quite sensitive. I've gotten gun-shy about eating out because I've had so many problems with contamination. I went to Uno's on the East Side of Madison because this app gave it good reviews. I got nervous when I saw the menu listed their GF options as "gluten sensitive," because in my experience, that means only that the recipes don't include flour. When I brought up the issue with the waiter, I was pleasantly surprised to find him quite knowledgeable about GF accommodations, and the restaurant's menu and kitchen. After being assured they took care to keep GF foods separate from normal foods to avoid contamination, I ordered the GF pepperoni pizza. When my food was delivered, it was brought by a SEPARATE WAITER, keeping my food entirely apart from the regular pizzas the rest of my party had ordered. The pizza was the best GF pizza I've ever had, and I include Lou Malnati's in that assessment. Most GF crusts are basically big flat breads. Uno's crust was a real thin crust, with a good chew and thicker than a pita. I also tried the roasted brussel sprouts, which were delicious. I will definitely be going back. I look forward to trying their other GF options.
This is amazing to be writing for Uno’s Not celiac safe! their menu has changed and at this location Staff was very clear that: the while menu items start out gluten free everything is cooked in a shared space they cannot assure anything is GF. they don’t have a separate cook space either.
Honestly, I would say that they were gluten friendly... NOT. They gave me my gluten free Caesar salad... WITH CROUTONS. This is blasphemy. Let’s just say their gluten free crust better blow me away, or they’d be lucky to get 2 and a half stars from this guy.
The servers are very nice. They do offer a gluten sensitive menu. I have Celiac disease and I have never gotten sick here. I have had the guac burger on a gf bun it was very good! I have tried most things on the gluten sensitive menu. I am very cautious when ordering, to make sure either the manager or server know that I do have an allergy!!! I would love to see more GF items on the menu!!!
Menu is marked as Gluten Sensitive, staff was knowledgeable and did their best to prevent cross contamination.
While they do have a gluten sensitive menu, it is limited. Their GF pizza is cooked in the same oven as the wheat pizzas. Heat doesn't kill the gluten protein so this is not an option. The staff here were not educated and couldn't answer questions without having to go ask.
They have a new crust on their gluten free pizza and its great. im celiac and never have gotten sick
The gluten free pizza is delicious and never had a problem. But when I tell waitress I have a gluten allergy and she looks at me funny and says "well, they will do there best but.." All I ask is take precautions please. it's not hard.
I didn't get sick but my chili came out with chips on the plate. I asked if they were gluten free and she said no and apologized. She got me a new plate and it was fine. This is after I told her I had an allergy and my food had to be gluten free. Other than that the chili was good. Then, I had the gluten free pepperoni pizza. That was wet and spongy. It was so soggy I ended up just eating the crust and the pepperoni off of it.
Second time eating here, haven't tried the GF pizza yet. My vegetarian wife really likes their normal pizza, and it's easy to feed our toddler. I've had the Beef Chilli (no tortilla crisps) and liked it a lot, the brown rice and roast Brussels were good too. Getting Salmon and other sides this time. :) they seem really careful about cross contamination, so I feel safe ordering things that are marked. service can be a bit slow, but I think they are honestly a bit understaffed in the kitchen and on the floor (that or it's a Sunday thing)
I went recently and ordered the gluten free pizza like I always do. Everything was the same, but some how I was glutenated. They even brought my pizza out separately from the other entrees. I won't be going back to find out why, but I suspect a mix up in the prep of my pizza (i.e. cooked it unwrapped in the oven). I've gone here many times, without issue, but I'm not about to take another risk.
Pizza was amazing! Hard to believe it was GF!!!
Been a couple times and eaten off gluten "sensitive" menu. First visit was a burger with Udi's bun. Burger was good. Bun was very dry. Second visit I ordered the gluten free pizza. This is definitely a frozen pizza completely pre-made. Crust was good and thicker than they normally are. Pizza would have been better if they put their own cheese and sauce on it. But I guess that's their way of reducing CC.
