I wish there was a lovely, great gluten-free bakery like this in every town. We walked past at lunchtime. There were no sandwiches on display, but then they made extra sandwiches (with mozzarella and tomato plus pesto). Very tasty. And I had a cookie, from the big extremely tasty brownies and an apple turnover. Everything was very tasty. A visit is a must if you are in Athens.
I searched for this place after finding it on the app and was delighted to discover I felt safe as a celiac eating there because nothing on the menu had gluten, so there was no risk of cross contamination.
I loved the food so much I ate there three times during my stay, and my aunt and sister (who have no dietary restrictions) loved it too. The falafel was amazing as a wrap or on a plate, and the vegan cheese is very high quality!
The staff were also very helpful and kind. I'll be going back on my next trip to Athens!
Really excellent food! Nice to have the possibility to order everything from the menu as all dishes were gluten free and vegan. I am not vegan, but I enjoyed the experience. I first tried the moussaka with tzatsiki and went back for the soutzoukakia wrap the next day. Highly recommended.
100% gluten free and vegan restaurants are a rarity back home in the UK, I’m not vegan but an dairy free and sometimes vegan options are the safest bet, and I couldn’t believe I could eat everything on the menu! Food was absolutely delicious and the team at Veganaki are very welcoming and helpful with questions you have - would definitely come here again if back in the area on holiday in future and will recommend to everyone!
I got the souvlaki and it was delicious!! Couldn’t even tell it was vegan. Everything on the menu is gluten free- except they can’t claim a gf certification cause not everything is certified, but after talking with the staff it seemed pretty darn safe for celiac. I avoided the nuts which they gave as an example could be contaminated in processing. Overall I felt safe and it was delicious!
Ate here a couple of times with my family when I was in Athens recently. Great location, close to Acropolis and the Plaka. I thought the salads were really good, the vegan pizza was actually pretty tasty. Whether you like the other items will depend how you feel about Falafel-like dishes. I was a little put off by the menu saying something along the lines of, "may be cross-contamintion, those with a severe gluten allergy should avoid," but I asked the waiter and he said celiacs eat here and everything on the menu is safe. So kudos to them for knowing what celiac disease is. I guess the disclaimer is just them covering their asses? Anyways, because everything is naturally gluten-free and the salads are delicious and employ simple ingredients, maybe they are the best bet for celiacs. It's all vegetables anyways.
Quick and very friendly service, we even got travel recommendations! We went there twice and felt very safe. The food was amazing and 100% vegan and gluten free. As a vegan and also coeliac, it was a wonderful opportunity to try the traditional greek foods like Tzatziki, Kebab, Moussaka or Greek Yoghurt!
