Hands down my favorite GF spot. Everything is GF on the food menu, gf kitchen! Everything is made fresh. I have yet to dislike anything. If you don’t like veggies get the tacos. I have been eating here for 10 years and no issues ever.
I’ve tried so hard to like Verde Cocina over the years, but am almost always disappointed with my meal. I’ve had good meals in the past, the pozole was great and butternut squash enchiladas were delicious, but these were specials and I’m not sure how often they’re on the menu. The cocktails are fantastic. The gf beer choice is slim (one beer last time we were there) which is a shame since there are great gf beers here in Portland. The queso fundido appetizer is good, but the chips that accompany the dish are store bought. In general, the food is bland, chicken overcooked. The chips and salsa is underwhelming, with two mild salsas in tiny sauce cups and store bought chips. It’s wonderful having a dedicated gf restaurant in the neighborhood, I just wish the food was a little better. I’ve been to the Pearl location about 10 years ago and recall the food being better, with homemade corn tortillas even, but the Hillsdale location is lack lustre.
Fun place to go, great vibe upstairs. The food is pretty good, if a wee bit bland. Good bar tho.
Love this place. Everything on their food menu is GF as their website says. High quality ingredients, their use of fresh, local produce is obvious. The romesco is bomb!
all the food on the menu is GF! It is all very fresh and very tasty!
Unfortunately, this was not a good fit for us. Although it is lovely that the entire place is GF. The beans were undercooked (still crunchy). The pineapple lemonade was foamy and tasted like dish soap. Personally was not a fan of kale and carrots for shrimp taco fillings. This place is probably loved by vegetarians.
My fiancee has a severe gluten allergy (she’s hardcore celiac) and she has been sick at many restaurants that said they could accommodate her allergy. But none of the ingredients in this kitchen have any gluten included at all. The food was amazing and I felt healthier having eaten here :)
Verda cocina is one of those places that I feel healthier after I eat there. Majority of the meal is very well cooked vegetables and their seasoning isn’t too spicy. Every time I have been the service is very quick!
The fact that all menu items are gluten-free makes this place very safe, but I was disappointed by the amount of vegetarian dinner options. I ended up ordering the tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole. The amount and taste were good, although I wouldn't consider the food outstanding. I had my eye on other menu items, but those weren't vegetarian, according to what the menu labeling suggested.
Super expensive had to green salad with only cheap lettuce and some Mexican cheese on top small salads and a small chips and salsa that I actually had to pay for and one drink it was $40 I couldn't even afford dinner I didn't think it would be that much so I didn't bring enough money
Lovely spot and delicious food, but I also have a corn allergy, and they were horrible about keeping my food safe.
I ordered a steak and side salad and told the server to omit the corn they put on top of the salad. It was not busy there, we were one of only two tables he was waiting on, so it shouldn't have been a big deal.
When my food came out it had corn all over it! I told him I was severely sensitive to corn and they needed to remake the whole dish or I would get sick. The replacement food came out a little too quick, I was suspicious that they hadn't remade the steak per my instructions.
Not surprisingly, I got very sick!
So just a warning if you have any other food allergies or sensitivities, DO NOT EAT HERE.
We went to the hill location. Beautiful spot to eat outside on a nice day. Nice drinks too. Server didn't share the specials with us, so that put a little bad taste in our mouth. However, they make fresh corn tortillas in front of you and they are used instead of deep fried corn chips to go with their order of guacamole. Yay! The guacamole was a little bland, so I added the sauces with it on the tortillas and that helped. To be fair we are huge avocado lovers and have guac at lest a few times a week, so we can be picky. They offer decent veg options. Food was pretty good and price was fair. We like our Mexican a little more flavorful and spicy, but overall it was a nice meal.
My favorite gluten-free restaurant in town. Five stars for the food! The service was alright, but they didn't quite get my meal right and the waiter didn't know the seasonal veggies. He also didn't write down any of my party's orders so that could be why he didn't get the order quite right. But back to the food...DELISH!
