Village Cheese Shanty

Sensitive celiac. Loved getting sandwiches here when we visited prior to being diagnosed. Have avoided coming here for many years til I read recent positive reviews. Walk up to order. Menu does not list GF, had to ask. Said they have GF wraps, also said they would take precaution. I ordered one of the sandwiches and they made into wrap. No issues!

How would you rate the taste and quality of the gluten-free food you tried?

— Excellent

First things first-they only take cash or checks. I was reassured that my gf wrap would be prepared in a space that was cleared and cleaned off. Precautionary measures would be taken against CC as well. I had the South Shore wrap and it was wonderful. It’s been 24 hours and I’m feeling fine.

The best sandwiches/wraps! I haven’t been here in years, the wraps are just as good (GF) as I remember the sandwiches back when I could eat gluten. There were very serious about making my wrap in separate space. No issues with getting sick. The south shore is my fav!

When ordering gluten free bread option employee immediately clarified if order was for an allergy or preference to avoid cross contamination. Amazing sandwiches in the historic fish town! Lots of wine, cider and seltzer options as well.
