Now a location of Friedman’s so offers both Friedman’s menu and gluten free Asian food options. We were on vacation and went to Friedman’s for GF options - happy to stumble on the Asian food options. Can attest that the food was authentic, yummy and safe. GF items clearly marked when brought to the table. No issues afterwards. Would come back if we are ever in NYC.
This place is closed. We made reservations online after being told to come here. We got confirmations for our reservation and when we arrived they were completely shut down. By the way, there were cockroaches in the window and all around the front of this place. Disgusting. Not even open.
Omg I wish I lived near this restaurant. I couldn't believe what was on the menu for gf. All soy is tamari based. I had a wonderful noodle dish. I was so excited and it was so hard to choose. We wandered over from New Jersey side and it was well worth it. It will be my go-to in NYC from now on.
Had a delicious Father’s Day dinner here with family. Huge GF menu and food comes out with tags, which is reassuring. We were able to share everything and it was delicious! They have gf noodles, dumplings, sushi and desserts. The chocolate lava cake was a fave, even of the muggles.
Delicious Sushi and Sashimi, bowls etc. Perfect service.
Ordered pickup online. Chinese food. Very limited options. Chose a later time slot, but was given a time slot 20 minutes later AFTER checkout. Did not make the food faster even after I showed up 15 minutes early to get it. Requested GF versions because I have Celiac’s. It was not at all GF. Very expensive. Never going back.
Wei West has moved to 245 Murray St. and merged with Friedman’s. The new menu is listed at the link below. There’s a full Asian menu (the chef is the same as the former Wei West) in addition to Friedman’s classics. I had the GF dumplings with spicy sauce and the crispy tuna appetizer. Both were excellent. I’m looking forward to trying other dishes!

Had the chicken fried rice and the sweet and sour chicken. It was so good!! They serve their gluten free dishes on square plates, felt very safe and it’s been an hour since eating and I don’t feel sick at all. Highly recommend :)
They have a separate menu for gluten-free and they serve gf dishes on square plates, non-gf are served on round. The sweet and sour chicken was delicious! It’s so rare to find gf battered and fried food, and this was really good!
We came on a Saturday for lunch so it was not busy. It had a great gluten free menu, with some Asian food selections that are hard to find where we are from. We had gluten free sesame chicken, chicken noodle soup, miso soup, and fried rice.
Kids have celiac but are not highly symptomatic, so I don’t rate for safety.
I had an awesome dinner at Wei West! They have a separate GF menu and they specify on the menu that GF dishes are served on square plates, so I felt confident that they knew what they were doing. I had crispy sesame chicken with plain white rice and it was a huge portion and was very delicious! I had to take half of it back to the hotel with me. Service was very fast. I was dining by myself and was probably there for only about 45 minutes, start to finish.
It’s so hard to find GF Chinese food, so I just had to eat here on a recent trip to NYC. I got the cucumber sushi and my husband and I split the sesame chicken, both from the gluten free menu. They were both excellent! I’m very sensitive to gluten, and I felt great afterwards; no issues at all.
This is the only place I’ve seen that includes their sushi items on the gf menu which is such a time saver! The food came clearly marked as gf. The only bummer was more my fault than the staffs- I forgot to ask for gf soy and with traveling don’t have any handy. So be sure to ask! The food was good, I liked the sushi better than I did the general tso gf meal but I’m hoping we can go back before we leave to have more sushi and try the gf sesame chicken. Really loving good Chinese takeout meals I don’t have to cook at home!
First time. Takeout. Got the general tso's and pad thai. Gen Tso's tasty but no veggies in it. Next time I would order more veggies on side. Pad thai was not very flavorful at all. Really did not taste like pad thai at all.
Unfortunately something did make me bloat up pretty bad, so I feel like I got a little cc. Bummer.
