West Coast Waffles

I was scared by some reviews, but decided to give it a try. Turned out to be an okay GF/V waffle. However, I could make better at home using store bought mix.

The waffles were absolutely delicious but shortly after eating there I felt quite unwell as if I had a gluten cross contamination. Since it’s the only thing I had eaten that day I believe West Coast Waffles was unfortunately the cause.

The GF waffles here are also vegan (which I didn’t know), so, not being vegan, I did not enjoy the heavy texture and earthy flavour of them, even slathered I maple syrup and whipped cream. Coffee is not great either.

Waffles were amazing, but their customer service could be better. We arrived shortly after they opened at 11 am. They were already overwhelmed and refused to take orders for 3 groups after tables were full, telling us it would be 1.5 hours and that we needed to wait outside. Groups arriving after we were shooed out were told 2 hours. They didn’t take anymore order until everyone seated had their orders (so 2 table were even done and out). The 2 groups ahead of us left, so we got in about 45 minutes after being told 1.5 hours. In that time, no takeout orders were allowed, and even the first delivery person showed up after we put in our order. The next 2 groups to arrive after us were told once again that they weren’t taking orders and it would be 1/2 hour. They quickly got their act together, but we were the only ones in the restaurant for most of our meal. 1 more takeout order came while we were there. Not sure why they were so overwhelmed upon opening on a Sunday morning. Did someone not show up for the prep work before opening?

The waffles were amazing. GF cooked separately.

Many options for waffles. Had a peanut butter and banana gf waffle. Was pretty good. However the restaurant was a bit of a hole in the wall and was really expensive

This is a great waffle restaurant with lots of interesting savoury and sweet options. The staff are knowledgeable about celiac disease and take good precautions when preparing your order. They always use a dedicated waffle iron for gluten free orders.
