I expected so much more from a Four Seasons restaurant. And by 'so much more', I mean 'the bare minimum.' My fiancé and I went for post-dinner drinks to celebrate our anniversary. The server was friendly, and we talked about our reason for celebration after she brought us our drinks. She suggested we order a dessert. I explained my celiac disease, and she reassured me that she had a gluten allergy and absolutely understood. We ordered the recommended gluten free baked chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. When she brought it out, out of my paranoia, I asked and double checked that it was gluten free. She assured me all was well. I took a bite and was delighted! Then she came running back and said, "You didn't eat it yet, did you?" She explained that the cookie wasn't actually gluten free and wanted to make sure "that was okay." The manager came over and comped everything, which was nice, but... ultimately? I work so hard to get a little time off... and now I'll spend my only vacation of the year sick as a dog, instead of celebrating with my soon-to-be husband.
