Whistling Straits Restaurant

We’re driving back to Chicago from Manitowoc area and were hungry for non-greasy food. Drove up to classy stone building on a golf course, and wondered if we were under dressed, it seemed fancy. But the staff was warm and efficient, a fire roared in the fireplace, the views were lovely from all the windows.

They’ve had their potato leek soup on the menu 20 years and we can see why! (They give you a half-shot of sherry to pour into it.) I had a nice Cobb salad with grilled salmon on it.

Be prepared that they may not have gf dessert options (I had a scoop of ice cream). And the waitress mention there was a risk of contamination for Celiacs (I’m not). But I had no adverse reactions to the meal and it was delicious and lovely.

Gluten free menu. My server knew what Celiacs was and made sure to notify the kitchen. They even served me gluten free toast - they put it through the toaster in a separate pan. Beautiful views too!
