Told the waiter I had Celiac disease, gave really specific directions for the kitchen and ordered something marked as being without gluten, and still got so so sick. I assume cross contamination. Such a bummer but I wouldn’t go back here or trust the restaurant unfortunately

The issue is that the allergen menu only denotes what foods already have the thing you are avoiding. There is no indication on the menu of what COULD be made safe. Instead they expect the wait staff to memorize it (which they can’t), then you get told (as I was twice) to just pick something and they will ask the chef. It’s very uncomfortable and not at all instilling confidence that you can eat safely, unless of course you choose from the insanely limited options for things that are default gluten free. I even tried to talk to them about it because they are clearly making an effort, just missing the mark. They did speak to me on it but were unwilling to really consider the perspective of the person trying to order from this menu. Sad, because the food and atmosphere are wonderful. I should mention there are more “by default” gf options on the lunch/dinner menus.
I've eaten here many times and not gotten sick. Some of the staff make bad jokes about celiac disease, but beyond that it is good. The other White Dog in Ardmore, however, is a riskier--I've gotten sick there and will not return.
Yes
They do a really nice job and serve Taffets GF bread.
