I don't want to knock anywhere that's 100% gluten free because I appreciate their existence in the universe. But... Sunday brunch was a weird experience. It's just sort of a weird ambiance inside, kinda dark and sad. And while the food was fine it didn't really taste like much-- kind of a frozen foods section feel? If you're looking for a place for a special occasion maybe go somewhere else. If you want to eat a lot of food with your mom after church this is your spot.
Food was fantastic and the staff was very good. Menu is 100% gluten free. Don’t pass on their onion rings and buttermilk ranch dressing! The buffalo chicken sandwich, Buffalo Wild Wings, brisket enchilada, cheese enchiladas and the BLT avocado sandwich. All were very good. Nice to find a place where everything is gluten free.
Their whole menu is gluten free! I got gluten free onion ring and gluten free fried chicken. I had no problem with this restaurant. I totally recommend it if you are a Celiac. Also the staff is so sweet. They found out that I was gluten free and they brought me out complementary gluten free things.
GF Safety wise, this place is a dedicated facility, which I always appreciate. But I have to agree with other reviewers, the food is kind of bland. Onion rings were good, but the rest was pretty boring. Also, the flies were out in force when I went, so that was a bit annoying. Still enjoyed eating out though.
This place was great !! Dedicated gf. On site parking lot. The baked goods were amazing and so were the wings I ordered and the burger and fries ! Don’t say no to the free chips and salsa it was the best I’ve had !!! My gluten eating sister said the ding dongs (baked goods, gluten and dairy free) were hands down the best dessert she’s ever eaten ! I haven’t been out to eat in years it was great to find this place and have such a wonderful experience
Entire menu is gluten free which you rarely see. Waiter knew his stuff. Very accommodating. Got the avocado burger with just avocado and the pattie on an amazing GF bun and fries. Dedicated fryers. Amazing. Friend got the tacos and they were big and stacked high. Went again. Got the fried calamari which was delicious and the burger again. Also have premade GF cookies, brownies and cupcakes.
Absolutely deliciousness and no worries since this place is completely gluten free. I had their Chicken Fried Chicken and it was better than any I've had since not ok only was it was great but I didn't get that sick feeling I've always had when eating one of my most favorite food smothered in gravy. Their green beans were very tasty. I also had their cheesecake which was as good as it looked with it's chocolate crust. Took 2 days to finish because of the big meal and I savored every bite. Austin is our new weekend getaway and route option when traveling due to this baby and it's sister or should I say parent bakehouse.
Okay, not sure where to start. Whether you are celiac, not doing gluten or along for the ride. You have to come here !!! This is an incredible place to eat . First, the onion rings are to die for.. The tacos so delicious! The enchiladas with the avocado sauce one of their specialty sauces so good that I can’t even put it into words. The margaritas...the best I’ve had in the last three nights I’ve been in Austin. I can’t wait to come back. If I lived in this area I would be there every day. I hope you give them a chance because they’re going to beat any expectation that you could possibly have. The night we went Saul was cooking. Taylor is the general mgr. The owner is great also. What wonderful people. Oh, btw the Shrimp Diablitos with habanero sauce.... so very good!!! That sauce., yummy! Thank you for a wonderful night with my family. I was the only one that had gluten issues (celiac). My family loved it as much as I did. You don’t have to ask if it’s gluten free because everything is even the most wonderful dessert!!!
Everything on menu was GF!!! Service was slow but we were sitting outside enjoying the weather and company so we didn’t care. Food was excellent. I am the only celiac but the others enjoyed it too!! Was disappointed they were out of desserts though. Would definitely go again when in town.
While I appreciate a place dedicating itself to being gluten free, I found the food to be bland. Just because it's gluten free doesn't mean it can't have some flavor to it. That being said the onion rings were good and the chucker strips were good. The calimari was soaked in lemon juice so all you could taste was lemon. All in all this place was okay but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
I wouldn't trust this place. Maybe it is a fully gluten free facility but we asked for the chicken tenders to be dipped in water instead of buttermilk because of a dairy allergy and I was already wary when they came out. They were served lukewarm, like old ones had been reheated, not made fresh without buttermilk. Sure enough, two of us now have diahhrea- one being my four year old, half an hour later. Like I said, this is pertaining to the milk but when it comes to allergies you need to go to a place that holds them in the highest regard. I read the ex employees review below but chanced it anyway, now I believe that he says is true.
A Wild Wood Worker's Warning To my fellow celiacs: Do not trust Wild Wood's advertised 100% gluten-free claim. I worked as a cashier/barista at Wild Wood for a little over a year until I quit in December 2017. Like many of you, I was initially delighted a restaurant existed that catered primarily to the gluten-free community. However, I eventually discovered that celiacs' health and safety were not high on upper management's list of priorities. Dubious decision-making and reckless ingredient sourcing were somewhat common occurrences during my time there. Much to my chagrin, the responsibility often fell on me to ensure that the food being served was safe for celiacs. For instance, on several occasions, I caught cupcakes going out with unsafe candy toppers, ingredients whose containers clearly stated they contained gluten, purchased by the owner. My manager and I also constantly fought with the owner to stop serving beer, but to no avail. These and other highly alarming experiences led me to believe that Wild Wood as an institution does not have the best interests of the celiac/gluten-free community in mind. I write only now because after I quit, I trusted my coworkers, including my manager, to make sure things were kept safe. But they're leaving. And, to say the very least, current management is not to be trusted. As a celiac, I wouldn't feel safe eating there anymore, and I feel it's my responsibility to alert you to my mistrust. I'd like to stress that this message is primarily meant for celiacs and anyone sensitive to cross-contamination/trace amounts of gluten. As for everyone else, consider taking your business elsewhere, ideally to an establishment that does not hold a callous disregard toward the health of its patrons. Be safe, Justin #wildwouldnt
Stopped here while spening a few days in Austin. I was really excited to eat here when I saw that the menu was 100% gluten free. There is something really refreshing when the entire menu is available to you, and you don't have to pick and choose or make sure the server is aware of your allergy, etc. The menu had a lot of options, and I'm sure you could come back often and try new things all the time. That being said, I was extremely excited to order fried chicken and gravy since it had been years since I've had it, and I must say I was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the food was good (especially the green beans), but it just didn't amaze me. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I expected every bite of the chicken to cause me to relive all of my fried chicken experiences from my pre-celiac days and cause a nostalgic storm of delight. Are those expectations too high? In the end, glad I went there, loved the ordering freedom, but I was a little underwhelmed.
Come to Austin for SXSW and to hang out with my brothers. Was so happy to find a place that served GF food my stomach is happy. The food was amazing but the stuff not so much. I hope when I come back to visit they are still there. But with better service.
