My college aged son was recently diagnosed with a gluten allergy. Since Xcaret wasn’t on this list, we were afraid his favorite Mexican restaurant wouldn’t be safe for him. They don’t have a separate GF menu, but we asked about GF items.
The server was knowledgeable and confident about the menu, saying that as long as he ordered a corn tortilla, all tacos would be safe for him. The chips were safe, as well as the rice. The server said to not get the beans, as they weren’t GF.
My son had the grilled chicken tacos (with onions, tomatoes, cilantro, lime, and special dips they come with) on corn tortillas. He also had the rice and chips/salsa. He had zero issues and we’re so thankful to add another of his favorite restaurants back to his eating list.
If a trace of gluten would have been in anything he ate, he would’ve had a reaction within minutes. No reaction or issue happened with what he ate at Xcaret and we will return. 👍
