The staff was unknowledgeable about their offerings until they realized they had a menu. The menu was limited and food was just o.k. Wouldn’t eat it again.
Found restaurant through this site's positive ratings. Ate a late lunch (around 3 on a Friday). It was a pretty day with a growing crowd but not yet dinnertime. They did have a gluten free menu. Waiter not at all personable, I asked to speak directly with manager. My 6 y/o (with celiac and food allergies) only wanted burger with cheese (no bun as I had our own) with side of fruit or vege. Manager not very encouraging or accommodating. Said they could do the burger but did not offer options beyond fruit. Reviewed how they would safely prep burger and explained no dedicated cooking area/protocols. He, too, acted as though he didn't want to be bothered. Meal was safe but would not recommend overall. Maybe celiac friendly if you want a salad or happen to be served/managed by someone different.
Ordered salmon kale salad from the gluten sensitive menu after explaining carefully to the server that it was extremely important that food was cooked separately and no cross contamination could be tolerated. The salad then arrived with Croutons on it. Went through the entire discussion again with the server and was assured that it would be cooked again from scratch. Second salad arrived without croutons and assurances that it was cooked separately. Feeling ill within an hour of leaving the place. Unbelievable they have no clue what gluten free means.
The food was good but the burger section needed a little care they didn’t say if they had a gluten free bun or not so it had came out and was wrapped in lettuce. The server was very notable and my food came out separately a manager also had came out with my food. The server I had was very kind and knowledgeable, thanks Matt! I would definitely go there again though.
Had a separate GF menu & waiter was super helpful. Our food took a while because the cook put a burger we ordered on a regular bun instead of GF bun. Before the food was delivered to us, the manager came to our table to tell us of the mistake in the kitchen, and to assure us they were completely redoing our order which we appreciated. We felt they were really making an effort to respect our dietary needs.
I've tried The Yard House in Las Vegas and felt great afterwards. This one is Northridge was the same. They gladly substitute items for others if you have additional food allergies. Would give five stars except for staff which lagged but it could have been an off day.
Starting with the good: the food was tasty, staff knowledgeable and helpful, and they even have a gluten sensitive menu. Why three stars? For starters, the GF items are what I'd consider "low effort". Yes, a salad is gluten free. A hamburger patty wrapped in lettuce is gluten free. A corn-shelled taco is gluten free. Anything fried (like tortilla chips) are fried in a shared fryer. It appears that they don't go out of their way to have actual gluten-free items though. Not even a gluten free pizza crust, which most places order frozen in bulk anyways. My point is that, if you're in Seattle, I think there are so many better ways you can enjoy gluten free food from places that will go out of their way to keep gluten-free items in stock.
Lots of options on the GF menu. Gluten free beers (IPA and Lager). I had the red quinoa salad with chicken. It's was delicious. Only down side, which could have caused contamination, the waiter was holding my dish and my friend's pasta in the same hand. But I didn't get sick.
I have celiac. Ordered salad from GF menu and it came with croutons. Server was not concerned. Also ordered the ahi poke stack from GF menu and it came with soy sauce. Server was unsure if soy sauce was GF and unconcerned. Suffered for a few days after meal.
I ordered street tacos and asked for them to be gluten free. The waiter who brought them to the table said "gluten free street tacos" when he set them down. He came back a minute later to say the rice on the plate was not gluten free and he would bring me the gluten free rice. He did. Now, the rest is partially my fault because I should have stopped him and sent the whole thing back and I didn't. I took a bite of the taco. It tasted funny. It was a wheat tortilla. I spent twenty minutes in the bathroom while my husband dealt with the manager. They comped the meal, but not without a little back and forth.
Staff is very knowledgeable and attentive. I have celiac plus several additional food allergies. The manager came to my table twice with suggestions, and substitutions to meet my needs. Very friendly and attentive. Plus the food was fantastic!I will be back again!
With Celiac disease and a severe dairy allergy affecting me I did not have many choices but the meal I had was amazing. I started off with deviled eggs which were very good, and for the main meal I had a ribeye steak with shrimp. The shrimp was very good and the steak was juicy and very good as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I am 14 years old and our servers name was Christopher.
They didn't have any gf buns for their burgers and the only gf sides they had were veggies or plain rice. I got the lettuce wrap burger to go and it was so fatty that I couldn't actually eat it like a burger but they didn't give us plasticware. That also meant I couldn't eat my rice. Now I have an awful fatty taste in my mouth and greasy fingers. Awful!
Mostly this place gets it right. It's one of the few go to places near where I work where I can go that I can depend on for a gluten free meal. They have a gluten free menu, however you have to specifically tell your server to remove specific items from the regular dish. The menu tells you what to remove to make it gluten free. Once I ordered from the gluten free menu and the server served me my tacos, I bit into them and had a horrific sinking feeling as I realized the tortillas were FLOUR not corn. The sweet lady that waited on me was very sorry, but I don't think she realized how devastating her mistake was. I got severely sick. She asked about my disease and what my symptoms were, which was nice of her, but it was too late for me that day. Since then, she has served me and there has been no problems. I order the Carne Asada (steak tacos) a la carte with corn tortillas and as long as there are no flour tortillas I am fine and don't get sick. I'm also allergic to dairy so I also make sure there is no creamy dressing or cheese, which there is not, but I mention also my dairy allergy as a precaution. The other thing I order is the spicy tuna roll. I get conflicting info about this food item from servers. Twice I have had two different servers claim that it is not gluten free even though it's on the gluten free menu with the caveat to not serve it with the soy dressing. When these servers have talked to the kitchen the chef claims that the tuna is premade and has gluten, however I have ordered this item dozens of times in the GF version without any problems. Perhaps they are being overly cautious?? Who knows?? When you order the spicy tuna roll, it comes with three sauces, sirracha, sesame oil and soy vinegarette. Have them omit the soy vinegarette because it IS NOT gluten free. They used to put ginger chips on top, which were also not gluten free, but they don't use those chips any more. There are some other items on the menu that are gluten free (steak, salads, etc). There food tastes pretty good, but sometimes service can be relatively slow and their prices are guaranteed to be high. With careful ordering the wait staff for the most part are understanding and helpful. UPDATE: The last time I ate there I had to order the spicy tuna roll 3 different times and ran out of time to eat in restaurant so had to take the final version to-go, but it STILL made me sick. The first iteration clearly had mayo or something creamy mixed in with the tuna. (I explained I was allergic to both dairy and gluten when ordering), for the second attempt of the dish the tuna was clearly mixed with something that looked suspiciously like soy sauce, the third time, the tuna looked "clean" but it still made me very sick I immediately got the worst migraine of my life that lasted throughout the next day. Normally I came sleep migraines off. I was miserable at work the rest of the day and missed an important meeting the next day because I was still so sick. To Yard House's credit they did comp my whole meal, however I'm so scared to eat there after this horrible experience. It was super busy at the restaurant, so I'm thinking that possible cross-contamination was the issue. It's too bad because I'd usually drop about $30+ each meal there, but I can't risk getting sick there any more. You might get lucky and be okay here, but who wants to play roulette with your health. 😬 With tons of other restaurants in the area that seem to better understand gluten/dairy allergies, I will be eating elsewhere in the future.
There were a good number of GF options none of which were actually listed on their menu. I had to go on their website to find what exactly was gluten free. Although I ordered something that was on the gluten free menu online, I still was extremely ill that night and the entire following day. I am not sure what happened. Maybe cross-contamination but it was not fun whatsoever. The GF ciders were delicious.
While it is a limited GF menu, this is the second time I've eaten here without getting sick. Our server, Sharnese, notified Rocky, the manager, who promptly came to speak to me. Throughout cooking, Rocky checked in with me, ensuring clean utensils, washed hands & cleans gloves. The chef, Jason, even came out to ensure everything was up to my standards. Great food & even better service.
We went because of the gluten sensitive menu only to learn that they cannot guarantee that anything is gluten free. We were told they have flour all around the kitchen and in the air. We left. A shame to have a gluten sensitive menu but be totally insensitive to Celiacs. Avoid.
I'm a strict celiac, and this place was very safe. The waitress noticed I had a gluten free menu and made sure I knew my options. The manager came to talk to me without me asking and told me they are going to change gloves, utensils, etc. to make sure there is no cross contamination. The menu has a lot of options, there is gluten free beer, and the food is really good.
