I was so excited to come here after reading all of the reviews but … Everything was beyond stale. I had already ordered and then they told me they didn’t accept credit cards. Luckily I had just enough euro left. If you want a fresh and flaky pastel de nata, go to Rice Me Cafe, it was probably the best I’ve ever had.

Fantastic little cafe and bakery, all items are gluten free and numerous items to try. I had a pastel de nata and a chocolate croissant which were absolutely fantastic. I would say a must if going to Lisbon.

Yesterday we tried to find Zarzuela. We were at the right adress but couldn‘t see it. It is a balinese restaurant now called „Bali do Cais“ and inside you can still get the gluten free pasteries and croissants and sandwiches. But Pizza and Burger they don‘t have anymore. They made us one of their new balinese menues glutenfree tho.

Very disappointed - looking forward to visiting after reading review (it was out of our way too). Had the banana waffle. So stodgy and tasteless I didn't eat half. Ate banana & left most of it. Hubby had cheese & ham toastie. It looked unappetising and also tasteless. Coffee was decent. Better going to Honest Greens or Time Out a short walk away.

Always like to support businesses that go out of their way to offer gf options.

The gf pattern de nata is okay. Not great, not horrible. The crust is decent, the custard is so so. Not overly sweet which is good. Had a slice of their cheesecake which is very different that cheesecake in the US. Not dense. More like whipped cream consistency. Flavor was good.

Vegan croissant was bad. Very little filling. Way too much dough. Horribly sticky on top for some reason.

Pizza looked good, but good but did not try it. Overall good experience.

We had the pizza salami and a toasti with ham and cheese. They were okay but not very tasty unfortunately. Maybe our expectations were too high. We were grateful for a gluten free place to have lunch however. They had a lot of variety to choose from and the large majority was gluten free ( although they also had a few things with gluten). Staff was friendly. No airconditioning but a few small tables outside.

Not dedicated gluten free, staff not well trained and the owner is very rude.

I got there to try the pastel de nata as they seem to be the only place to have a gluten free & vegan option, it was good. I also had a sandwich with gluten free bread and vegan cheese and the staff ensured me they use different utensils to prepare it, again I didn’t have symptoms so I believe it was safe.

Because they are the only place offering the pastel de nata I’d recommend to try and would come back.

But overall the experience was that because of the strike of the train they had no staff, the owner was there shouting at the poor guy who’s the baker that was trying to work in his own, I felt very bad and wanted to leave, but as celiac knowing that was the only place, I stayed, it was worth in the end.

The staff was unfriendly and the food was not delicious. I had a fruit filled croissant and it was just OK. Not really worth eating. The pastel de nata had a crust that was difficult to bite because the texture was hard- but not crunchy- chewy and tough. I didn’t eat it. I would rather have no pastry than bad pastry. Skip this place.

The staff were very helpful in pointing out options! Tried the pastel de nata which was delicious - so happy to get to try one while in Lisbon. Their croissants were decent but I’ve found better elsewhere. Nice to have such a wide range of options for relatively cheap though!

Outstanding! I had the pizza and the pastel de nata, which was warm. I purchased a ton of other pastries I haven’t tried yet. The staff were polite and reserved, at first. That has been my experience in Lisbon. But once they were greeted with friendly and polite dialogue, they were just fine. Huge menu with both GF and vegan options.

It was great to get to try the pastel de nata - - they have gf and gf/dairy free options, but the bakery only takes cash. I had to go to an ATM across the street to get Euros. And they weren’t very nice either. Otherwise it is all gf and was pretty good.

Amazing!!! A GF restaurant and bakery born of true love. Udi, a nice, soft spoken german gentleman, created this restaurant for his wife who is celiac. It is a dedicated GF kitchen. Any non GF items are brought from outside isolated.

The GF pastel de nata is fantastic. Truly enjoyed the chocolate croissant with my cafe au lait. All bakery items are GF and delicious. They also have GF only pizza at lunch which I must come back for! Zarzuela is definitely on my list of best global GF bakeries!
