Moist, juicy ribs, fork tender brisket and smokey chicken. AMAZING food. Safe for Celiacs and CC sensitive people. Everything on the menu and all sauces are GF. Only gluten in the place is buns which only touch a penne press. Frier and grill top are dedicated GF!! Spoke to owner, was very friendly and understanding of GF needs. Ate here with NO problems. Thank you thank you ZZQ for being in existence!
I can't say enough good things about this place! Being recently diagnosed with celiac disease, eating out is a terrifying experience but not at ZZQ! They have gluten free buns AND a dedicated frier for the fries - no chance of cross contamination anywhere. The owner was so kind, explaining how the kitchen works and even going out of his way to recommend other celiac-friendly restaurants! So not only is the entire menu celiac friendly, it's DELICIOUS to boot! Thank you to everyone at ZZQ - this gal has a new favorite restaurant!
Staff was super knowledgeable and trained well. Owner was very understanding and accommodating. Highly recommended for gf and non gf people. I tested shredded chicken, potato salad, beans, sweet zzq sauce, and spicy zzq sauce on Nima gluten tester.. no gluten found! 😄
Pulled pork with the smoky BBQ and fries on a GF bun!!! Sooooooo good and it’s nice to eat somewhere where you can eat EVERYTHING on the menu (except regular bun)! I didn’t get sick! Will be back even though it’s a drive from Plymouth. I also enjoyed the potato salad!
Food is awesome! Great meats, sides, sauces, and the best buns! They get buns from Rich’s according to the owner. A Google search tells me that Rich’s makes the buns at a dedicated facility in Eagan. Check back for their Tuesday special... if you see the smoked chicken sandwich... RUN!!! It is amazing! Great food and always tests safe with the Nima sensor.
Tried this on Foodsby today for lunch AWESOME delicious food!!!! I am not a huge fan of potato salad but ZZQ has the most AMAZING potato salad on earth!!!! The meat was AMAZING as well!!! I will definitely be going to dine in with my family soon!
The owner has celiacs in his family and is very knowledgeable. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable as well. Everything is gluten free but a bun they serve but you cam substitute it for a packaged gluten free bun. We tried three different types of meat and many sauces. Everything was very good. We will definitely go again when we travel up that way.
Highly recommend!! Owner is very friendly (so are all the staff). Everything is GF except the beer and buns. They do offer a GF bun that comes wrapped in a package. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve eaten here many times and not gotten sick and I am extremely sensitive. (Owner has some celiac family members so he totally gets it)!!
Don't sleep on this bbq. A treat for my fellow celiac and non celiac, alike. Dedicated fryers for items such as wings and fries. I study Dietetics and after talking to the owner, Zach, I am confident he cares and is knowledgeable about his customers and their allergies. Just be sure to notify him or his staff and you'll be in good hands! Service is quality, couldn't have felt more welcomed. Try it ASAP!
What a great experience! Upon hearing that I had Celiac disease, the owner himself assisted with my order. He explained that the meats and sauces as well as sides were gluten free. He also stated they had a dedicated deep fryer. I had the pulled pork with potato salad and French fries. It was amazing!!!!!! The food was delicious and I felt fantastic after eating it. Would absolutely recommend and look forward to going again.
ELiTE - Smokey Meaty Goodness (oh yah and it’s gluten free!!!) ZZQ is by far and wide, one of the most knowledge and attentive barbecue joints in the twin cities. Dedicated Fryer, GF Sauces, GF meats- errrythang except for the beer is GF. Meats, sauce and rubs are intentionally, carefully crafted to avoid gluten at all costs. This place is great! There is NO doubt this place is safe for celiac.
EXCELLENT food and very confident in their ability to serve according to celiac needs. Owner is very knowledgeable and was incredibly personable to ensure that I had a good experience. You can tell they have high quality meats, much better than most fast food BBQ. I highly recommend.
Owner came to take our order and was very knowledgeable about Celiac. All meats, sauces, sides, and fries are gluten free. The coleslaw has some kind of distilled vinegar though. They cleaned the grill and utensils after the last food was cooked. Definitely the best BBQ I have had in Minnesota. The meat was smoky and flavorful. I liked the food with just a little sauce as the meat was fantastic on its own. Great food and great service. We will be back often!
Had the brisket and pulled pork with fries and coleslaw. Owner informed me that it had vinegar in it. He is very very knowledgeable when it comes to gluten with 2 people on his wife's side that have it. They are in the process of getting all separate and new utensils. He is getting tongs with purple handles since purple represents allergies. He even told me to be safe and use a napkin to push down on the sauce pumps. I went right at 11 and as soon as I sat down it got busy. He should definitely open a second place south of the cities and have a food truck downtown Minneapolis. Now as far as the food goes... it looks really good and man the taste is just great!
Food very one dimensional. Relies heavily on dry rub. Barbecue sauces were watery with a strong vinegar taste. Fries are gluten free. Food is gluten free, but I prefer more flavor in my food. Order at counter food delivered to table. You will leave smelling like you've been at a smokehouse.
We were ABSOLUTELY AMAZED!! We were able to enjoy our meal without the worry of getting glutened. For us, it is a drive to get there but definitely worth it!! Will be going back for sure and soon. Not often can we say that we enjoyed our meal, this place deserves 10 stars. Great food, friendly and knowledgeable staff!! Way to go ZZQ Becca
Amazing. Before I ordered I told him I have Celiac. His wife has 2 people with celiac in the family. The only thing in the menu that I couldn't have was a bun. Didn't need one. The food is amazing, big portions, fantastic REAL BBQ! Worth the drive! Will be back, with friends in tow!
This is a great place! I'm very selective about where I eat due to my gluten issues. Met the owner, Zach on my first visit. He is very celiac conscious and makes you feel right at home. I can eat almost everything on the menu except for the buns. But at this place, you sure don't need a bun. Delicious!!
I am torn. This restaurant is very gluten free friendly, but the food was atrocious! We went on a Saturday night with our children, when we pulled up we were shocked to see that it wasn't busy, we had been worried, considering the timing. I know understand why. It was not edible. The meat was disgusting in both taste and texture, the fry seasoning was overpowering and off putting. I was so excited to try this place, but alas I am disappointed. Skip this place.
Fellow at the restaurant is very knowledgeable and friendly. Best of all, everything except the bread is gluten free. The food is excellent! My favorites were the ribs, pulled pork and brisket. The menu is simple but that is OK! Try the spicy, sweet & smokey sauces together. YUM.
Passing through town and this place came up on my GF App. I am so glad we stopped. This BBQ and smokehouse has an authentic taste and it really hit the spot for hungry travelers. Simple: 4 Meat options (chicken, brisket, pork and ribs) and 4 sides (fries, beans, coleslaw and potato salad). It's worth the trip. Food is outstanding. Place is clean, staff smiles, Zach the owner will make sure your GF needs are met. Dedicated frier, utensils cleaned, and all the sauces are gluten free. We are up visiting from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and will definitely stop by again. Hungry? Check back Sunday - Zach has a "burnt ends" brisket special. I can't wait!
A must for meat lovers with celiacs or a sensitivity. Owner Zach takes every precaution with cross contamination including dedicated friers. Let them know you're gluten free and they will wash everything. Only thing you cannot have is the bun. I'll be back!
