We go to max and Erma’s everytime we come out to Pittsburgh for penguins games and my girlfriend says they have the best gluten free buns she’s ever had.

I have been twice now and it will absolutely be a regular location for me now that I know I have celiac disease! They have a separate menu for gluten-free items with a wide variety of items off of their main menu. Not like most places where it feels super limited. Reasonably priced. mashed potatoes are delicious!!! The staff is super great even when they're busy!

Have eaten here many times. Food is very good and staff is knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.

Our waitress was phenomenal... Cassie was her name. She knew all about Celiac disease. Made sure my food was prepped and cooked just right for me! I'm allergic to potatoes & mushrooms, have a thyroid disease so need to avoid nightshade as well. She was totally on it! She went above and beyond for me. And I appreciated it very much.

They have a “gluten sensitive” menu and gluten free buns for burgers. I ordered a salad from this menu and clearly specified gluten free, it arrived with a big fat breadstick right on top.

Eat here several times each year. I am Gluten Sensitive. Food is great and I've never had a problem!
They have a “gluten-friendly” menu so they make no guarantees about it being truly gf, but I’ve ate here many times and have never gotten sick
Yes
The waitress was very helpful. I told her that I had celiac and she went and got me the gluten free menu (and now that I know they have that I will ask as soon as I walk in the door). She answered my questions and gave suggestions for gluten free.
Yes
Good food, great quantity, good prices. There were quite a number of gluten sensitive menu items, and they have gf buns. They have a separate gf menu. I've had no side effects, but of course they can't guarantee 100% gf.
I ordered from the Gluten free menu and informed my waitress. I got about 5 bites into my food and felt sick. We make a speedy trip home, take some medicine to combat the nausea and oncoming migraine (Less that 20 minutes after ingesting the "gluten free" food) I was sick for 3 days and unable to eat or drink anything. I was nearly hospitalized. This is the worst restaurant experience I have ever had since getting diagnosed with celiac.
No
sassy annoyed waitres, bleh food, and most definitely not safe for celiacs and gluten sensitivities
No
Just wasn’t very good. Steak not cooked correctly and too much dressing on my salad
They gave my husband and I a regular bun then took the burger back and swapped out ONLY the bun. I asked if All she did was swap the bun and she said yes... told her that it doesn’t work that way and The gluten will still be on the burger patty and the rest of the food on the plate... so they made us fresh burgers.... then my husbands egg was runny when he asked for over hard... the manager cams and told us she would give us $1 off for the egg... after they almost put my in a hospital. DONT EAT HERE. Wish I could give 0 stars

Special gluten sensitivity menu and very helpful.
Yes
pretty good options. had gf buns that were large, but had a couple hard spots from heating. relayed this info to server . hamburgers good.
Have eaten here numerous times and must say everything I have had off the gluten free menu was good. No issues here.
Food was good, but staff seemed to not have much knowledge about celiacs or even allergies and cross contamination, so make sure you stress that gloves should be changed. Also, be aware of what you order because when I was ordering off the gf menu the waitress asked if fries were ok for me. If I didn't read the gf menu carefully I may have said yes but they say right on their menu that their fries aren't gluten free.
I didn't see GF buns listed on the menu but I asked the waitress. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. She also said the fries are cooked in the same oil as other items, so she suggested another side. My burger wasn't that great, but was glad for the help!
Not clean!!! Watee tastes like medicine. Gluten free friendly, but now we understand why no one else was there.
They have GF buns for burgers, a variety of options, and even have a GF cidar. I recommend the balsamic chicken.
Had the balsamic chicken with mashed potatoes and asparagus and did not get sick. I have celiac. No gf appetizers
Son enjoyed burger on GF bun. Separate menu for GF. They have many locations too!
Had a great lunch there. Decent menu options for gluten free. Price wasn't spiked for gluten free either!! Gluten free bun tasted fresh--not frozen and quickly thawed. The only reason they get 4 stars is because the cool forgot my mushrooms to my mushroom and Swiss burger. 10 hours later no reaction. Would highly recommend.
Yes
I was gluten there. I won't go back.

Server was very knowledgable of GF choices! They had a separate GF menu with quite a variety of options. I had a chicken sandwich (burger) on their GF bun. The bun was soft and tasty! Good food & service!
they were great and even asked if I needed the cook to change his gloves.
Nice gluten free menu! Burgers are great! Really enjoy such diversity in gluten free.
Was celiac friendly and would highly recommend.
Yes
no longer gluten free friendly
No
Celiac's beware! The "gluten free" menu has next to nothing on it, staff is not knowledgable about contamination and even though I thought I had ordered simply enough to avoid any trouble, I still obviously had some sort of contamination because I was soooo sick after!
No
Not good. Ordered salad, steak, potato. Salad came out with croutons and breadstick after asking for it without -- server immediately took it back where a different server brought out "new" one. It was the exact same salad with them just picked off ... except the ones under top layer of lettuce. Fortunately saw it before eating and sent it back a second time. This time my server made a fresh one himself. Then main course ... potato was completely brown with half of it completely rotted and smelly. I'm shocked it was actually served. Our server was fantastic -- everything else was awful.

This is a dangerous place for celiacs. They no longer have a gluten free menu, and they use butter in everything.
My wife found no sides to order except plain baked potato, and even though the staff was told about requirements, the salad came out with bread stick.
She ended up with cross-contamination poisoning and in a lot of pain.
No
This place has absolutely no idea what they are doing. The waitress couldn't answer basic questions for me. I ended up ordering what I thought was a safe salad only to end up being glutened. The free wi-fo in the restaurant was so slow I couldn't pull up their website to check for allergens and they don't offer any allergen info on site.
No
Gluten free menu online. Employees didn't really understand.
No
Staff was very pleasant. Manager came over to greet us and talk to me about my gluten allergy. Although limited gf menu, the food was good! Will definitely come back!
Yes
while they can not guarantee no cross contamination they are knowledgeable. there are quite a few gluten free options on the menu. food was good.
They no longer have a GF menu at this location, it was hard to be sure anything on the menu was safe.
No
limited gf.
An awesome experience. we were in the area and saw this place on this site. staff was so friendly. Place was clean. They have a seperate gluten free menu that my son ordered from. The waitress came back to reassure us that she double checked with the kitchen. Then, the manager came over to greet us and asked if we had any questions about the gf menu.
Yes
A nice option. Staff was nice and knowledgeable. Knew right away anything in the fryer was not GF. Good option at the airport. Pinot Grigio was nice. Had bacon cheeseburger. I think a trace, trace of gluten but ok since it will make me sleep on plane. I am super sensitive.
They do have a gluten free menu which is much better than the usual "list of allergens" we've all seen. But options are limited and they didn't seem willing to accommodate my special requests. Also they have NO gluten free beer.
Yes
they were very informative. the manager came out to help my husband choose the best items.
Great person to person assistance to make GF wings not cross contaminated. Manager knows difference between GF and celiac disease. Thank you Bryan!
Ate at this location once and it was great!! Decided to try again since the first time was great second time was a disaster!
Dedicated GF menu with several good options. Some other options are GF when you get them with no bun or switch things out. Staff is friendly and willing to work around substitutions.
limited menu but good choices. no gluten-free soups.
