Not the most flavorful tacos in STL, but I know their other location in O’Fallon takes gluten allergies pretty seriously so was happy to have something within walking distance to get my chips and queso fix (haven’t asked here, but other location has a dedicated fryer! Have yet to have a reaction from this location). However, this is a new location so I’m not sure if they’re as good with protocol as O’Fallon— they did mess up my order once and give me the wrong bowl, which was fine because it was gluten free regardless, but I would stick to the bowls/salads that are all naturally gluten free since I’m not sure I’d trust substitutions for corn tortillas with the tacos just yet. The bowls are also a really good deal- $8 with no meat, around $11 with, and can easily last 3-4 meals! Chips and queso are delish as well
Food is not bad, but beware of incorrect orders. I ordered from DoorDash and despite having gluten allergy all over it, it arrived with two FLOUR tortillas instead of corn. By then I’d eaten the other food so now I’m ill by cross-contamination. Don’t order online from this place!
This was my first time at this chain. We appreciate the selection of taco that is safe and knowledgeable management.
Food was decent and most importantly safe for my fiancé. No reaction.
Coming to Jackson for Doc appointments gives us a chance so explore what food options are available and safe outside of our little town.
I ate at the one in Conway about a year ago and had mixed feelings… then the next day I had a strong reactions so I do not intend to return to any of these in the future
Visited Tacos4Life this week and experienced what could have been a bad mistake but quickly corrected by the senior staff. The new cashier did not mark my order GF. As I can recognize most corn tortillas as corn , I figured it was flour. A few minutes delay than I enjoyed carnitas taco that was a generous size and very delicious! The refried beans not so much.
I was terrified the first time that I ate here but now it’s a regular place for us! I’ve never had an issue with cross-contamination. Most of the staff are very knowledgeable and will take precautions like changing their gloves. The chip is gluten free!! I recommend the mahi tacos. Also the kids quesadilla can be made gluten free (my son’s favorite!) They have a good rewards program too.
Loved this place! Not sure how safe it is for celiac, but my Southwest rice bowl with chicken and beans and lots of other yummy stuff was delicious and didn’t trigger my sensitivity. Yes, GF menu and other allergy menus, too. It’s a “Do Again!” for us!
What a disappointment our experience at Tacos 4 Life was today! My daughter and I (both Celiac) had high hopes based on the many 5 star reviews from other locations of this restaurant on FMGF, but we both left saying we never need to come back to this particular location. Perhaps we spoke to the wrong manager about our GF options? It seems like others were offered many alternatives and/or modifications for menu items. We were told we had three options- 2 salads and a rice bowl. We were told they couldn't make tacos GF and that chips are fried in the same fryer as everything else. And to top it all off our stomachs hurt within 10 minutes after eating. So disappointing.
Had the 3 taco menu option. The staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Tested with my Nima and got a smiley face.
Had the chicken habanero, beef, and chicken tacos on steamed soft corn tortillas. Very tasty and the food came out fast.
The meal also came with chips and your choice of sauce. The chips are fried in a dedicated fryer.
First day going gluten free with a new Celiacs diagnosis, the lady at the counter was very educated on the disease and knew the GF menu like the back of her hand! Recommended to me what would be good options, what would be safe and what wouldn’t be. They use a separate grill as well! 100% recommend! Tacos are great too.
Last time I was in the restaurant I ordered and returned two attempts before my food came out right. Also, they started saying, “you know we are gluten friendly, not gluten free, right?” I can’t go back, zero trust me
I love tacos 4 life!! One of the few restaurants I feel safe eating at and actually had a lot of option. They have a gf menu but I live the chicken and queso rice bowl, tacos on corn tortillas or lettuce, and their chips are gf so nachos!!! Their chips and queso are my favorite and they are fried separately!
They have a separate GF menu upon request, almost everything is GF. Chips are in a separate fryer and are SO good. One of the best chips & queso in town! The manager was super nice, and they noted that I had a gluten allergy. They brought out my food separate. I would definitely recommend for celiacs, they are allergy friendly and have delicious food!
I spoke with the manager and he was so kind and knowledgeable about gluten and what the kitchen does to prepare gluten free foods. He talked with me about what was safe and the few items that wouldn’t be. He also showed me where the GF is prepared. The good is great, it’s for a great case and the staff is always nice.
First time was a wonderful experience. The gal at the counter, Abby, was very helpful, knew exactly what Celiac measures the kitchen took/what I could not order, and told me they change out gloves. She even double checked anything she was even slightly unsure of. Manager came over and said he would make sure to watch it through the line too, which was nice. Food came out super fast, and I didn't have any issues. Shared order of the guac/chips, and had the queso rice and two tacos (Hawaiian shrimp and chicken habanero). Very pleased all around. Highly recommend.
Great experience. They do have a menu showing what items have gluten, dairy, etc in them. Only thing they don't have a gluten alternative for is a dessert. However, I felt like I had plenty of options to choose from. They offer soft corn tacos and lettuce wraps. The soft corn was two shells for each taco and they hold together pretty well.
I was nervous as this is a chain but has a decent allergen menu online. I had the chicken queso bowl. It was not very good at all but I didn’t get sick so that’s a good thing. The team was not knowledge but pointed me back to their website so I would be cautious with what you get an making sure they add an allergen alert to you ticket.
I was VERY excited that they opened in this area. T4L has never let me down. The staff is friendly and the food comes fast, Shazam! They have an allergen menu, I just always ask for GF crunchy tacos. The crunchy tacos are large and tasty. I can also have the chips, salsa and queso ...I get to eat like a normal person and that is the most exciting part! Woo! Thank you T4L!
The street tacos are all gluten free and come in corn tortillas. The staff at Tacos 4 Life had no idea what gluten was and tried to convince me that the flour tortillas that most of their tacos come in is gluten free. They also tried to tell me that the fired chicken taco was gluten free. Be careful eating out In Arkansas. It’s very hard to find any knowledgeable wait staff.
Great experience. I have eaten here several times. Taco's are delicious, bowls are even better IMO. Has never made me sick.
It’s so nice that a Mexican-style restaurant has GF ground beef. I don’t know why that’s rare in this area, but it’s been my experience. The toppings were fresh, the staff was really friendly, & the service was quick. No reaction, & the flavors were a great change of pace. Will definitely be back.
We are staying at GWL and I was looking for a tasty place that was different for us. This place was amazing. I got a coconut shrimp taco (Hawaiian) and chipotle steak taco with a side of queso rice. The trio chips/dips too. My family loved their non GF tacos too. We loved it so much, we might return tomorrow 💓 I am strict GF/celiac.
My mother and I have celiac, and we had an amazing experience here! We told the cashier we had celiac disease and asked for the gluten free menu. She told us the gluten free menu had been lost, but she named everything that was gluten free for us. There are plenty of options here! Before we could even ask, she assured us that they use a separate frier, all change gloves, and have a specific gluten free oil. When she brought us food, she told us that she watched them while they cooked it to make sure it was gluten free! The food was delicious! I would definitely recommend!
Gluten free menu available. Let them know you have a gluten allergy and they will check and make sure what your ordering is on their gluten free menu as well as let the cooks know the order needs to be prepared while keeping a gluten allergy in mind. They also fry their crunchy shells and chips in a dedicated fryer, so you can enjoy chips and salsa/queso/guacamole with your meal.
My son is Celiac. Their order system apparently flags ingredients that should not be included on an item, if the order is flagged as an allergy. I have ordered more than one thing here, and they have delivered our food and said ‘when we started making your tacos, a note popped up in our system that there is potential contamination with ingredient X, so we left it off. If you’d like, we can bring it out on the side, but we don’t recommend it.’ They change gloves for each order, put each order together on its own tray, etc. there are a lot of fun options. A lot of people are familiar with the chain Torchy’s, but I think Tacos4Life is better, plus they donate free meals overseas for every meal purchased.
Update: I traveled through town and it was still good. They had a GF menu available. I had the beef tacos with a side of chips and queso. The tacos reminded me of when I could eat supreme tacos at Taco Bell, or that’s what the sour cream reminded me of not the meat it was much better than TB. They have 2 fryers one for chips and one for the flour tortillas so no cross contamination (that was what I was told.) The rest of my family liked their food but preferred pork over chicken.
The cashier/waiter was very knowledgeable about what I could get that was GF. I had the pork tacos and they were good and huge, the queso was good and the rice w/ queso was okay. Great company message - meal 4 meal and cute play on words with the tacos 4 life name.
Ordered through GrubHub and included a note on my item indicating celiac and the need for my meal to be completely gluten-free. When the order arrived, my meal was in a separate bag and labeled CELIAC and Gluten Allergy. I had been nervous about ordering online, but I feel confident that they saw and honored my restrictions.
Update: Ate there in-person over the weekend. I was given a gluten-free menu. Also the cook came out to ask my preference of corn tortilla (hard or soft) since the items I ordered typically came on flour tortillas.
I love this restaurant! They have so many great gluten free options. Even the cheese dip is gluten free and the chips are made in a separate fryer. They also write gluten allergy in your ticket and communicate well throughout the kitchen. This is the ONLY restaurant in Jackson I haven’t gotten sick from at least once! The staff is kind and helpful. They are always patient with my friend who has speech disabilities. Not to mention, who doesn’t love helping feed hungry children by eating tacos?
I mentioned my Celiac Disease when ordering my food and the manager immediately pulled out the gluten free menu and pointed out which items were safe, he made a note in the system for the kitchen staff to change their gloves. The food was incredible and the staff was extremely friendly!
This place is incredible! The managers wife has celiac, and he took the time to show me the gluten free menu and clearly communicate to me what could be made. Dedicated fryer for chips, soft and crunchy corn tortillas! I ordered the grilled chicken taco on soft corn and it was to die for! The manager even took the time to educate his front of house and kitchen staff on safe procedures for gf; I will definitely be coming back!
There’s not many places I feel safe eating at, but Tacos 4 life hasn’t let me down yet. They have a gluten free menu and there’s a lot of options. I loveeee the queso rice bowl and the ultimate nachos. They have a dedicated fryer for chips (!!!!!!!) One of the only places that I feel relaxed eating at and I haven’t been glutened yet!!
I ate here while passing through town. They have an allergen menu with lots of available options for gluten free. My primary concern was cross contamination during prep due to the flour tortillas in the kitchen, but I ate with no issues. Staff seemed knowledgeable about allergies. I will be back again next time I am in town to try more on the menu!
First time visiting and will be back often. Was greeted with the most helpful gal. 2 of us are gluten free and 1 is dairy free. There is a board to order from and the gal came out to us and explained the food and what options were not gluten free. She explained there kitchen process to make sure there is nothing cross contaminated. They clearly ring up your order and have it listed gluten allergy, dairy allergy or another allergy if you have that. When the food was brought out the server stated gluten free and my order and did the same for my mom. Everything is made fresh and in house. Amazing flavors too!
Tacos and cheese dip are delicious! Make sure to ask for corn taco shells, and they have a menu to tell you what meats/tacos are gluten free.
If you specifically ask the order taker for what items are GF, they can provide you a list. They make not guarantees, but will be happy to flag your order with "gluten allergy" and someone will make it separately. They DO have a dedicated fryer for the chips. I regularly eat nachos there and also their rice bowls. Good food and I havent been glutened yet.
