I took a chance on the Plant Cafe in that it only had two reviews, and I’m so glad I did. My initial plan was to go to Amy’s but that was located in a terminal that would have required going through security again. As it was, I had a long walk from my gate to this place. (It would be nice if the restaurants that cater to food allergies would be more centrally located in the airport. ) There were only a few GF options, but I was able to find something. I had the teriyaki bowl. It was very good and a generous portion. This will definitely be my go-to at SFO in the future.

I’m so glad I found this place after searching around SFO for safe food for so long. I had planned to go to Amy’s but didn’t realize it was behind security in another terminal so I was stuck with less than favorable options in Terminal 2. There are to GF options on the menu —teriyaki bowl and quinoa bowl—cooked to order. I had the teriyaki which tasted really fresh and healthy. Also there are fresh smoothies and juices. One star downgrade because if they offered GF buns there would be so much more selection.

Usually grab some to go items before heading on a flight. No issues. Although the staff seems like they could care less.
Not sure whether it’s celiac-level GF, but it has a number of GF options, including GF cookies on the top shelf of the bakery case.
Have the green curry w chicken every time I fly from terminal 2, and the protein smoothie. Not a ton of options in this terminal so this is my go to. There are blueberry muffins that look good but I have never tried them- they seem to change gloves w each customer. I am a sensitive celiac with no issues.

Food was okay, but immediately tirned pink and itchy and began feeling sick after eating here. Menu says gf but plant burgers are not gf and appear to use wheat flour which could be the issue (maybe cross contamination or flour dust). Im

They offer gluten free food but I had server check with the kitchen and the only option that they could say was safe from cross contamination was the salad. I did enjoy the salad which was enough for 2. The smoothie was really good but pricey.
Great to see gluten free options! However, the two staffers we spoke to had absolutely no clue what "gluten free" means. We asked one worker if they had any GF options, and she pointed at the sprouted wheat bagel. Seriously. We asked another worker what was in the granola and got a blank look, followed by, "Granola." There are GF pastries and cookies (yay!) on the same shelf as wheat-based pastries and cookies (boo).
So, we had zero confidence in them. But there are options if you're willing to gamble.
The GF options at our visit were: smoothies (probably GF); teriyaki bowl (who knows); Thai curry bowl (probably ok); and salads. Not much for a picky kid. :(
I ate here several times without any issues. I have celiac disease, and I felt like they were knowledgeable.
Also, the food is quite tasty.
I know there have been reviews complaining about the service here, but I couldn't have been happier with our busy. Server was very knowledgeable, checked with the kitchen on a few items to make sure and seemed informed about cross contamination. Best of all, did not get sick afterwards!! Will definitely be going back.

Had nothing that was celiac friendly and very few gf options. Girl didn't really seem well informed.

Delicious lunch bowls!

One of my go-to restaurants for lunch / dinner.
Gluten, soy, dairy, onion, garlic free me met my vegetarian cousin here. There was something for each of us. I had salmon and jasmine rice, which were good, and cashew cheesecake which was fantastic. We were able to park for free around the corner after 6 on a weekday.

Kind of pricey and they don't really have basic breakfast options that are gluten free, so I ended up just ordering a selection of sides. I got 1 scrambled egg, a side of turkey bacon and a cup of tea and it was $10.50 with tax.
Been there twice, both times tried their supposedly GF bowls, both tune walked away with massive stomach ache.

I had the Korean BBQ bowl and it was amazing! They made sure to tell the kitchen staff about my "allergy", which was nice. Delicious and fresh!

Update: now have veggie curries and quinoa bowls that are gf. Smoothies and fresh juices. Salads labeled gf. Some dessert vegan and gf pastries. If something is heated up, ask if on shared equipment.
Great salads for celiacs.

Good food, mediocre service: lots and lots of great, organic and fresh GF options

Great to have a place to eat gf food in an airport without it just being yogurt, chips or a fruit cup. Bagel was great!
Yes
Gluten free plain bagels available so get your fix with PB and J or cream cheese here before your Virgin America or American flight at SFO. Their oatmeal is also good and has never given me trouble. Good coffee as well.
Food was good and more than but service and atmosphere were off this evening and for the price that is unacceptable. Try the salad with duck confit. It is great. The spring rolls are gf. Chicken pot pie without a crust was good. Safe dining but we won't rush to go back. They offered a delicious raw lemon and cashew cheesecake that was stunning. Perfect level of sweetness.
Let them know if you have celiac and they will note it and take extra precautions.

Delicious food! I had the soup of the day (butternut squash) and the Arugula & Grapefruit salad. Great atmosphere too. We sat outside with a view of the bay.

Have eaten here several times now, each time without any issues. Tasty, fresh, wholesome food. Pricey, and don't expect to be seated until your whole party has arrived, but they definitely make me want to come back for the eating experience.
One note, though -- forgo their cocktails. Head down to Hard Water instead, and just go with a wine on their menu.

Decent food but not extraordinary. There are many gluten- free choices noted right on the menu but they are overpriced for what they deliver.
Yes
tasty food.staff seemed understanding of cross contamination.menu clearly shows what is gf.didnt get sick, ate here twice.if u have celiac avoid the cakes and cookies etc though.they are stored on plates next to and underneath regular baked goods so cross contamination would be bad.
Great gluten and dairy free options. Vegan options too!'ft

I have been there twice. once fot lunch and another for dinner. lunch was easy by getting one of their many salads and a juice. For dinner I g ot pizza which was diffult to cut and eat due to the thin, cracker-like crust getting tough. it was otherwise tasty. I want to bavk for brunch.
Tons of gluten free options. Grain bowl with tempeh and veggies was delicious. They also have a full coffee bar (with dairy alternatives).
Yes
Good selection of gluten-free and vegan options. They have gluten-free bread for sandwiches (Rudi's). Wait staff is fairly knowledgeable with gluten-free and other allergy needs.
Really like the food and location. And I didn't get sick.
Yes
Went tonight for the first time. There is a gluten free symbol on menu for safe items.
Pluses: gf (celiac safe) items - starters, all salads, meats, pizza (not celiac safe--see below), reasonable price point for the area, fresh and local (and organic) foods, homemade gf pizza dough, female manager (michal) has celiac.
Negatives: server not very knowledgeable, no gf kids items, gf pizza cooked on same oven surface, homemade veggie burger made with bulgar wheat
PS try the duck - yummy in my tummy!

GF Menu! Organic-several restaurants in SF,CA-Try the GF appetizers, Pizza, Entrees and desserts!

The food is very fresh and oh so tasty! I was hopeful they would be super careful since they do have "glutenous" sandwiches in their kitchen, and it appears they were! I'm very sensitive to cross-contamination & I was not ill at all and loved my food. The spring rolls are too delicious. Can't wait to go back!!

A GF favorite and added bonus for our vegetarian friends.
Yes
A favorite as it has both GF and vegetarian. Great location.
fresh, delicious, and kinda crowded.
Awesome that everything is clearly labeled on the menu. So many tasty things, wide variety of hearty salads and dressings..also noticed they sometimes offer gf cookies and stuff but have never tried them. A little expensive but mostly all organic. Faves: fiery broccoli, quinoa bowl, chicken salad, Dino kale salad and beet salad
They label their menu which makes it easy to order, it's amazing and fresh, sometimes they have gf pizza crust available.
Great place to grab brunch. Lots of healthy and organic options. GF items are marked clearly on the menu.
Loved the gf huevos rancheros. Also tried a bite of an omelet with goat cheese which was delicious.
Perfect for wide variety of options
