The only things I have been made aware of so far that have gluten in them is the oat milk and the granola, but they have gf granola as well which is super yummy. I love getting the various acai bowls as well as the coffee which I just sub their silk almond milk for oat

I’ve had playa at other locations without issue, sadly had a reaction after eating at this location :( I’d say be cautious and extra verbal about GF needs!

Great little place to get a smoothie or smoothie bowls with lots of gluten free options. You can customize your bowl or smoothie with a lot of healthy options like protein powders, fruit, gluten free granola, hemp seeds, pee pollen etc. Although not dedicated gluten free most of their options are.

Love playa bowl! They are very mindful about allergies, and even when placing the order (even online) ask if there’s an allergy that they need to know about. They have gluten free granola, and they mark the bowls that they made gluten free (:

This Acai Bowl place was AMAZING. Not only is the food AND coffee on point but we're above and beyond knowledgeable about allergens/gluten containing ingredients. Their gluten free utensils they use are labeled so no cross contamination. They even asked if I wanted it made on a designated allergen friendly surface to reduce any cross contamination. If in Hershey a MUST HIT for breakfast.

Edit: glutened again unfortunately 6/19 I’ve been here tons of times with mostly good experiences. Recently I was glutened and there was a piece of granola in my bowl (have truly no idea how). So just please be careful. I have my classic symptoms and just wish I was more vigilant. Unless you’re sure about the way their lines work/protocols I wouldn’t chance it. There also seems to be some controversy regarding their products not being GFCO certified though bearing the mark “illegally” last year as some products contained barley malt.

Playa Bowls opened recently and I decided to try it out after doing some research online and my roommate telling me she had seen signs for allergy awareness at their store. It was so good! They have gf granola they are happy to sub out for the regular granola (the only non-gf thing I noticed on the menu). They were very knowledgeable of precautions and even have a separate allergy friendly area. My bowl came out marked as an allergy and covered—it was delicious! So many options and they let you sample the different bases. I will 100% be returning!

Only gluten in the restaurant is granola & they offer a gf version. Separate allergy friendly blenders and cutting board. Seemed confident in ability to handle cross contact. May want to ask for unopened açaí tub if not dedicated as that could be a source of granola contamination after observation them make the bowls.

We have a family member that would be here every day if they could. However, it really depends on who’s working on how closely is monitored for cross-contamination. Love the bowls, but I tend to keep my eyes on the staff as they make my items.

Incredible acai bowls with gluten free granola
— Gluten-free items are marked on the main menu
They have gluten free granola which you can substitute in for their standard granola. Many offerings are naturally gluten free (acai based bowls with fresh cut fruit etc). They also have smoothies. Even though the staff changes all the time, we’ve been happy with their consistency on gluten free granola and the question ‘Is it a preference or an allergy?’ which gives me confidence that they are taking our request seriously.

Please check out the gluten free watchdog group. PLAYABOWLS are not CF gluten free and therefore not safe for celiac

It was my first time here. Great experience! Most things are naturally GF, I think everything except their granola. They do have gluten-free granola, just ask. I told them it was a serious allergy and watched the young lady who made my bowl. She went to the back to get a fresh blender of the base mixture for me and then I watched her go back to the back to get a new spatula because she forgot it. She was very careful about CC, and I didn’t get sick. 😀

Celiac friendly and so delicious! I always remind the staff to change gloves, and they do a great job. Almost the whole restaurant is gluten free. All bases (except I haven’t asked about the oatmeal base) are gluten free and gluten free granola can be subbed in. So healthy too!

This place is AMAZING! The ingredients, the instant care and caution about my celiac allergy. The main girl Liberty was SO sweet when I forgot to mention gf granola and made me a new bowl while gifting me the other one for free to give to a friend. This place is chill and open. I would 1000% recommend this to anyone, but especially if you have celiac!

My partner is celiac and while we’ve only been here a few times, this is definitely something that I would recommend if you are looking for something different for a snack or dessert. The options are all delicious and able to be made gluten free. If you mention that you have a gluten allergy they’ll clean everything in the prep area.

*This review is for two separate visits.
The first time I went, the person who took my order was very nice and she asked if cross contamination is an issue for me (it is). She assured me that she would prepare my order on a separate cutting board with a clean knife. The food was great and I had zero issues afterwards!!
I went back a second time after such a great first experience and this time the store was busier. The person who took my order gave me a “yeah yeah we got you” when I told him about gluten. He neglected to tell the person making my order about the food allergy alert. I gave him a reminder about my order when I noticed it was next in line to be made. The lady making the food asked him if she should use a separate cutting board and he told her no. Unfortunately, I had celiac stomach issues after eating here this second time.
So, a bit of a mixed review! When it’s slow—fantastic! When it’s busy—be cautious!

Told them I was celiac. They said they’d use sterile equipment. I am not sure what happened but a smoothie has made me get sick over ten times within the hour .
