My family and I are visiting Rome this summer (May), and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for gluten free restaurants with a view? We are just looking for something unique for our time there :)

mindy89535 Mama Eats has great food and use separate dishes even. I had eggplant parmigiana!

jim8944 We were there recently. Most restaurants have gluten-free pizza crust and gluten-free pasta throughout all of Italy.

jim8944 There is a bakery close to the Colosseum that has all gluten-free, but I don’t remember it’s name .

serena8257 Not sure about the view part, but italy as a whole was very gf friendly. Apparently they have a large percent of celiacs in the country

AmyLu Sorry, I can't speak to a place with a view. Most places that we ate, inside or outside, were street level, in a little alley or sidewalk. But there is no problem in general finding something to eat. I left reviews here for nearly everywhere we ate in Rome in 2019. My biggest advice is to be aware that although every place must have a GF option, in a few places it might be nothing more than a frozen dinner type meal, not fresh. It only happened to me once, but it was very disappointing. Also lots of gelato places have GF cones!

NancyRPB Go where the locals eat. Avoid the restaurants with someone outside the door, calling customers in.

Rosa545 @lauren4958 Please update this post if you can with your experiences in Italy regarding the gf food. I will be going later this year also. My Italian tutor tells me GF food is readily available, just tell the waiter you have celiac.

gfgirl7 There is a place in Campo de' Fiori square called La Carbonara. I go there every time I visit Rome, they happily make gluten-free pasta with no problem and I’ve never been sick. Fabulous place!

Ellyse Camp de’Fiori had an AIC restaurant called Mercato Hostaria - food is amazing and you can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere of the square! Highly recommend

laura56555 You should go to cimarra 4. Separate kitchen and pizza oven. Is located in rione Monti, close to the Colosseum, foto Romano, san Pietro in vincoli and other beautiful spots
