Hi! I’m in Rome, Italy, studying abroad in the more southern end of the Trastevere neighborhood. I was wondering if anyone had any great gluten free food recommendations in this area/Rome in general!!

evebw I was recently speaking with a restaurateur originally from Italy who informed that celiac’s is quite common in Italy and very well handled. She says if you tell them you have “Cheliaco” they will know what to do! Good luck!

ashlyncraig I did a summer study abroad in 2019 and found Voglia di Pizza - Gluten Free. As the name suggests, the entire restaurant is gluten free, so it is safe for the most sensitive Celiacs! I was only in Rome for a few days, but I think I went 3 times. You can find their website here: https://www.vogliadipizzaglutenfree.com As someone here commented, Celiacs is extremely common in Italy, so I found it to be one of the best countries to travel/eat in because I rarely had to worry! Also: GROM, a chain gelato shop that stretches beyond just Italy, has gluten free cones. 😁

dionnes We ate the best burgers (vegan & non) tonite at Erudito. The fries are amazing. We loved theire sauces. I cannot begin to tell u how delicious the onion rings were & most importantly the BUN! Their buns are the best gf buns I have ever tasted/chewed. They do not crumble. They are just outstanding. The person working was wonderful to us, so helpful & friendly. I will remember this soot for the rest of my life. I wish so badly they would become a small, successful franchise & come to my city in the USA. I would eat there way too much. So highly recommended if this is your thing… 1 reply
