Staff cooked wood fire pizza on an individual pan and used a separate pizza cutter to avoid cross contamination.
I have suspected celiacs or a gluten allergy that cannot be confirmed. I have only been to this location, but I have never been disappointed or had an issue with the 6 times I have been here over the past year. Have gluten free pizza crust and most toppings are gluten free. Staff is very knowledgeable about cross contamination and grab fresh ingredients from the back and have a dedicated pizza cutter. The owner has a true passion for quality in his food gluten free and non gluten free. Will return again and again. My favorites are the garlic cheese bread and anything with the pesto sauce on it.
Let them know right away that you’ll be ordering gluten free since they need to precook the crust a bit before adding the toppings. You’ll have to request that they take the extra steps to use new sauce from the back, change gloves and use a clean cutter etc.
Manager was very patient and explained how they could only try to reduce cross contamination. But as another reviewer mentioned, the sauce is clearly contaminated as the ladlle touches the dough as it is being applied. Perhaps if you just get oil or maybe ranch dressing (not sure if it is in a bottle) you would be ok. But the manager also discouraged me from getting a salad as he said there could be cross contamination, since those ingredients are the same as are used on the pizza. I went to Chipotle (in the same plaza) instead, although honestly I don't know if they are much better. At least the gluten is limited to the tortillas there.
Staff is coached on washing hands and changing gloves but the sauce and cheese and other toppings are pulled from the same containers as the regular pizzas (sauce is dipped and spread with the same utensil...completely contaminated). There was no dedicated prep area either. Pizza was probably delicious but I'm fairly certain I would have been terribly ill after. Unfortunately not Celiac safe.
Went to this newly opened assembly line (kind of like chipotle) pizzeria. Was ecstatic to witness that not only did they have a gf crust option, but procedures are in place and followed to avoid cross contamination. Attendant puts new gloves on, puts the gf crust on a platter with a piece of foil big enough to protect the pizza from contact with any food remnants in the oven. they even have a special cover to keep the outer crust from burning. Crust was decent and the topping and sauce were excellent and fresh!
They have gluten free crust but it is prepared where the regular crust is prepared. Also they use the same sauce and spatula that they use in the regular pizza so the sauce is completely contaminated. Really wish people understood cross contamination. This place is not safe for celiacs!!!
