I was amazed when I asked what on the children's menu was gluten free, and the response was everything but the pizza! I had to double check as I didn't believe it! One thing I will just warn you on - it sounded like everything on the menu actually was gluten free for everyone so I almost forgot to specify gluten free when we ordered (to a different waiter) but they do use different bread etc so make sure you say!

We visited Acton and sons after reading reviews here and although I live over 3 hours away it is safe to say we'll be back.
My son is coeliac and I am recently gluten free myself so 2 out of 3 of our group requesting gluten free food.
As mentioned below, instead of being told what we could have we were told what we couldn't have, that in itself is amazing. The choice was huge. The kids menu was great too. I ordered a dish that contained an ingredient considered to be gluten free but was informed that it may contain incase I had an allergy..... that in itself is incredible.
The food was delicious. We had 3 quite different dishes and all were lovely, we also had 3 different deserts which were delicious. The food alone makes this place worth the visit.... the experience to go along with it.... well, hands down the best restaurant we've been to.
The servers were so welcoming, friendly and attentive. We felt safe eating there. The level of understanding for gluten free food is incredible. The information provided regarding kitchen prep areas etc wasn't even asked for but was provided.
I say we'll be back as this is the first experience of its kind that we have had anywhere in Ireland. I commend the staff for making this such an incredible and enjoyable experience.

Ate here during lent so I couldn’t have meat (I’m catholic) and they had both lots of gluten free options and lots of plant-based options.
I had a delicious poke bowl with vegetables. The vegetables came out and were covered in a kind of batter, which I immediately flagged, but the waitress assured me that they purposefully use GF batter to make sure it’s safe. It was so tasty!
Definitely worth a try the next time you find yourself in Belfast.

Have had three meals here in two days. This place is wonderful. Anytime the host says that it would be easier to tell you which contain gluten, that is a welcome sign.

Really safe. Staff were very well informed and knew off the bat about separate fryers (yes), cooking surfaces and utensils (yes), and what modifications might need to be made to a dish (eg no breadcrumbs). I was able to get the three course set menu like everyone else with minimal extra fuss.
Unlike some other reviewers I didn’t receive a gluten free menu; the server said they had recently pulled it and I’m not sure why, as all the items and precautions were still available.
Great for a family outing, would definitely recommend.

I have visited this restaurant twice the first time I had the Acton burger with all the trimmings and on my second visit I went for the battered haddock with chunky chips, both times the food was lovely. This is a relaxing restaurant with great staff who r also knowledgeable when it comes to people on a gluten free diet. They also use a separate fryer when cooking the gluten free food

The Sizzling Prawns, although on the small side, had great flavour as did the cheesy garlic bread. Decent selection of Gluten Free. Be sure to make a reservation if going at dinner time as the restaurant fills up.

Actual gluten free fish and chips!! Glute. free salmon and even a gluten free bread basket! All this in a nice atmosphere in a part of the city that is great to explore.

Closed on Mondays! So many gf options. We had the mussels, cheesy garlic bread and the battered haddock. My husband had the dirty fries (I don’t think they are gf). He said it was the best food he’d eaten since being in Ireland. Sad I don’t live nearby.

Whilst staying in Belfast taking my daughter to Uni,we found Actons resturant. Amazing place for great choice of GF food and that was with reduced menu. Staff were great and very welcoming. Good knowledge of my requirements. Will definitely be back.
I had a beautiful meal, so impressed, not often I can go somewhere were theres so much gluten free options and I can enjoy a menu as much as my partner does! Good Vegan options too but not GF unfortunately.

Lovely restaurant. Live music was playing on my visit. I had the gluten free garlic bread and prawns appetizers, along with the Foxes Rock lager. All were delicious. I got the fruit tart as dessert to go, it was more like a slice of pie but yummy.
Yes
Dedicated kitchen space and fryer. Lots of GF items and items able to be adapted. Offer GF batter, flour, bread, and breadcrumbs.

Staff was friendly, service was great!! Gluten free fish and chips!
The staff were so inviting and so understanding. Very clear menu with gluten free options, but all staff also willing to adapt any meal and make its gluten free. I felt listened to by informed staff. Very safe. Will be going back soon to try some of the other interesting dishes.

Well-informed servers, lots of good variety and options, GF (and also V) clearly marked on menus and ability/willingness to alter dishes to make GF when possible. Big bar selection, nice atmosphere with outdoor seating as well as ability to handle larger groups. Service a bit slow but very friendly.
Yes
Had the best GF fish & chips here! Black & white Ice for dessert to top it off! I love fried mushrooms so I had to try those as well & was not disappointed! GF knowledgeable, for Americans the service can be considered slow but the Irish are in no hurry so no worries! Highly recommend for future travelers.😊
Yes
Wonderful fish and chips. Many options.
The menu lists gluten-free and "gluten-free available" options very clearly. There are lots of options! The garlic bread is really good, and the fish and chips are amazing - they do not taste gluten-free at all. They apparently have a dedicated fryer because they use both wheat-based and gluten-free batters on their fried items. (I asked a waiter if it was safe to try my boyfriend's fried side dish, and he said no, but he could bring me an order with gluten-free batter.) The waitstaff is very knowledgeable about celiac disease and what's safe. Highly recommend!
