Ate here twice and didn’t get sick. The owner has celiac so they understand cross contamination. They have a separate fryer. Crab cakes were amazing.

What a wonderful experience. The second the waiter came over and saw the gluten free menu he went over the safety protocols without me needing to ask. It was so great having a huge selection of comfort bar food to choose from. The food is not five star, but it is exactly what you would expect non-gluten free Bar food to taste like. For me, this was the experience I had been looking for since being diagnosed. They even had some more unique ciders and seltzers on the drink side so I felt I had more than one option.
The service in this place was also wonderful. Our server checked on us throughout, as well as other restaurant staff. I am not local to Baltimore, but this would have been enough to make the two hour drive worth it for me. If you are looking for tator tots covered in junk, wings, chicken fingers, French fries, pizza, and a whole page of celiac safe sandwiches to choose from, this is the place for you!

We had the Tots with crab, Buffalo wings, crab soup, and the crab cake entree. Everything was absolutely outstanding! They were knowledgeable of my GF needs and made sure to take care of me. I usually have anxiety eating out, fearing getting glutened, but I felt confident this time. The staff put me at ease and were so pleasant and accommodating. Even ordered a pizza to go for dinner!

We really enjoyed the French onion soup with toasted GF bread. Overall we felt safe and were confident that the restaurant was taking necessary precautions. Food is typical tavern/pub fare

Huge gluten free menu. The owner has celiac so they take cross contamination very seriously. We had the Brussels sprouts, crab dip (we got tortilla chips with it), fries, the bbq sandwich, Buffalo chicken panini, French dip panini, and Cubano panini. Everything was outstanding.

Friendly service and yummy food! It was a Celiac treat to eat fried food. There is a separate GF menu and fryer, which is pretty extensive. The waitress said there are a few members on staff with Celiac, so they know about CC. The crab dip tator tots could be a good meal by themselves. The food is so filling! If you’re in Baltimore, I recommend giving this place a try.

Our new favorite, go-to spot in Fells Point.
Flavorful food and great service. Plenty of GF options on their dedicated GF menu. Separate fryer so you can enjoy fried food! They use Udi bread. Grilled items are kept on a separate tray, which is cleaned between uses. We devoured the GF Maryland Crab tots and Maryland crab soup. We will definitely be back!
Updated review: We returned!
GF Maryland Crab tots are still yummy! Enjoyed a DownEast cider, sangria flavor is delicious! Pear is good.
I haven’t had any issues after eating here and will be back again and again!
Saw a sign that said they have vegan options, but don’t know more.

Large gluten free menu with alcohol options as well. Best chicken strips I’ve ever had! Get the Buffacue! Only downside was that the service was a bit slow.

I eat here often and am so grateful to have them so close by. I am gluten-free and dairy free and there never has been a mistake in the dozen times I’ve eaten there. I’ve never had a reaction which is more important!
A real service to the community!

I cannot say enough good things about this place. We went with 9 people, 5 of whom have Celiac, with 6 adults and 3 children. Everyone had something they loved. I was so happy to get gf fried food! The Buffalo chicken tenders were fantastic, I had a cocktail that I could have drank a bowl of, and my (non-Celiac) husband had cream of crab soup that was absolutely loaded with fresh crab. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and even the tired and hungry children loved it.

Food was incredibly delicious! It would of been 5 stars but my food came out after my husband ate his because they said it went to the wrong side of the kitchen and it wasn’t GF so they had to remake it. I also found a hair on my chicken. It was a quiet week day lunch so I expected more. Staff was kind and knowledgeable though.

The waiter was awesome and extremely helpful. We had cream of crab soup, Maryland tater tots, crab cakes, maple bacon Brussels sprouts and salmon. You had to roll us out of this place. It was sooooooo good. The gf menu is enormous. I wanted one of everything! They even have fried wings and chicken tenders.

Run, don’t walk to Alexander’s. I love being able to eat fried things. The quality of the items is great. I got the MD tots and the Chicken Fingers GF. Boxes are well marked. Make sure you select gluten free, and the food goes in a dedicated fryer

Great GF options. My two celiac kids were overwhelmed with teen friendly choices from a gf menu. Things usually restricted to them were available because of a dedicated fryer!! Very knowledgeable server! Pleasant atmosphere. Looking forward to visiting again!

Great and knowledgeable staff . Food was just as great crab cake was amazing.
Great wings, nachos, soups, etc. and they understand cross contamination! Food came out with GF flag
Yes
I checked out their website which seemed to have an extensive gluten-free menu so we thought we’d give it a try.
When we arrived and I started to ask the waitress all of the various questions about their cooking procedures and cross contact, and she informed me that the owner has Celiac Disease and that everything Gluten Free is cooked separately. That was quite a relief, because you never know what to expect when trying a new restaurant.
My celiac son got a gluten-free pizza. I have to say one of the highlights of the meal was the tater tots. They were light and crispy, and we finished them so fast that we got a 2nd order! They also had various tater tots with toppings such as chili, etc. but we went with the plain. Some other gluten free menu highlights are gluten free crabcakes, chicken fingers, wings, grilled cheese, soups, pizza and more!
Yes
Amazing food and a wonderful gluten free menu. Right when we sat down our waitress asked if anyone needed a gluten free menu, I didn't even need to ask! The gluten free crab cake was delicious! Tator tots were so good! Reasonably priced. Chef has celiac and they used separate fryers. Wish I could give it 6 stars.

Very knowledgeable! Food was descent but it was worth it to feel like I had a safe meal

Food was absolutely delish. GF crab cakes were the perfect consistency. Virtually every dish on the menu can be made GF. What a treat!

Holy [email protected]%#[email protected]$ amazing. Huge GF menu. Sweet potato taters w/BBQ pork was excellent as was the GF crab pizza.
Yes
They have a number of GF options, as well as dairy free. I had the GF vegan pizza — it was very good and I didn’t get sick at all!
Separate gluten free menu with wide options. Separate fryers and gf food even comes marked with a neon orange "gluten free" toothpick flag. I usually just end up ordering several appetizers; perfect place to hit during a pub crawl.
Yes
Great GF options, didn’t get sick, fresh crab đ My only qualm was that it was quite loud due to two large parties going on, but they can’t help that.
So good! Had the gluten free sweet potato tots with bbq pulled pork as an appetizer and grilled chicken sandwich as main - both delicious, and no reaction!
Yes
What I ordered was fine. The issue I had was more with the staff knowledge. We had bread on the appetizer plate (not mentioned in the menu), our food runner couldn’t tell me if it was GF or not.
I’m sure if we ate in the dining room vs the bar, it would’ve been better experience. :(
Amazing experience! It took me forever to order because I am not used to so many options! Ask for a gluten-free menu when you’re seated. I had a buffalo chicken sandwich and tater tots - it was all delicious! I’m very sensitive to CC and felt absolutely fine. Non-GF family members loved it too! If you’re in Baltimore, it’s a must-visit.

Tons of GF options, right in fells point.
Definitely celiac friendly. Dedicated fryer so we can have greasy fries and tots again! Waitress told me everything is very separate in preparation because the owner (or manager?) Has celiac. It was a good place to get pub food without concern.
Yes
Amazing GF menu - crab cakes, wings, and lots of great options. Owner has Celiac so they know what they are doing.

Their staff was very knowledgeable and they have a gluten free menu with lots of options. Separate dedicated fryer. My daughter enjoyed the Texas Tots as an appetizer and got a GF plain pizza for her main course. Friendly atmosphere a pub feeling. Very cute
Yes
Please note: the panini press used for the GF panini's is the same for the gluten paninis and the gluten free paninis. This is NOT safe for celiacs. I was served soup accompanied by wheat crackers which indicates a lack of attention. Our server seemed 98% indifferent to gluten free issues. Reading the reviews, Alexander's Tavern does very well by celiacs, but I felt very anxious there due to the above factors. I had soup and a salad and did not get sick.
