I visited Allegros this week and they have gluten free pizza. They told us they could make just about anything on the menu Gluten free. I ordered the pepperoni and mushroom pizza. It was delicious and I did not have any reactions. I’m a very sensitive to gluten with Celiac disease.
UPDATE: this visit they said they do not offer gluten-free food at all. Have they changed hands??
MY EARLIER REVIEW:
We had GF pizza twice there and both times the pizza base was un(der)cooked in the middle. We asked them to cook it VERY WELL DONE, even burnt, the second time and it was just as doughy and undercooked the second time around. It’s a pity, because the flavours on the pizza were delicious. They just don’t seem to know how to cook GF pizza base properly.
I ordered a gluten free half spinach and ricotta / half pizza Roma and it was amazing! They can make any of their pizzas gluten free and they have a HUGE selection to choose from! The staff was very kind and made great recommendations based on my dietary restrictions. I felt fine the rest of the evening and definitely will be returning back!
This place has been offering gluten free pizza for over 29 years because a neighboring store owner has 2 celiac kids ( adults now!). Always a great product. I know they have a Celiac button on their ordering system to alert the cooks to take special care now that so many people are requesting gluten-free. They shape the special dough with gloves on, press it between 2 pieces of parchment, place on parchment in the oven, then cut it with a cleaned separate pizza blade used only for gluten-free. I trust this place and have recommended it for years. They also have gluten-free pasta and a special dessert. It takes longer to make because the dough has no elasticity and can’t be tossed. They don’t charge extra like most places do.
Chose this place because everyone wanted pizza and they reviews here were good.
The food tasted great. Very fresh.
Sadly, I was starting to react just as we left. I asked if they used fresh prep areas and new ingredient bins for the GF pizza. The answer was yes but clearly they did not.
Super bummed.
The gluten free pizza was excellent. I felt totally fine after eating it, and I ate the whole pizza!
Pizza was good and staff was mostly knowledgable and confident..."most TOPPINGS are GF" they had a wide variety of pizzas
I was nervous to eat there for fear of cross contamination but all is fine.
Their GF pizza crust was quite yummy !!!
It was fresh and most likely made fresh that day (verses packaged)
Bathroom was filthy(likely due to young kids working 😌 and lack of mature supervision /
Allegro has been offering gluten free pizza for several years now. The garbanzo bean flour now being offered is the best so far. Disposable gloves, parchment paper and special cutting utensil insure a safe product.
