Very Gluten free friendly. Menu is Cleary marked with GF. They offer GF pizza. The fig , prosciutto with gorgonzola is amazing. They also have GF breadcrumbs, so they make Gf Chicken or Veal Milanese and Chicken or veal Parmigiano . A manager delivers your food that has an Allergy tag on it.
Menu is labeled. Ordered the carpaccio without croutons, which is why it's not labeled gf. It was decent after adding some salt. There weren't many gf starter options. I got the chicken Milanese. It came out with an allergy stick. However, the dish had absolutely no flavor. None. My wife got the chicken piccata and said it was similarly disappointing. I've gotten the fig pizza delivered before and it was decent. Don't see much of a point in going back which is disappointing since it's close by.
Was a little apprehensive to go here from the reviews but after speaking with the kitchen and wait staff I decided to give it a try. Had the pasta, the ORECCHIETTE SALSICCIA, it was yummy. And got the antipasto for an appetizer. Waitress said she was celiac and ate there all the time so they eased my nerves. Went on a Monday night but was still fairly busy. Did not get sick.
I was a little apprehensive going here, because I had a bad experience 4 years ago. But this time it was excellent. No separate gluten free menu, but items that can be made gluten free are marked "gf" on the regular menu. I ordered the chicken piccata and it was delicious! It came with roasted potatoes and green beans. Before ordering I questioned our server about how they would prepare it gluten free (gluten free flour? no flour?), and she was able to answer all my questions. 24 hours later, no ill effects so they definitely got it right. I do think it makes a difference if you go on a night that isn't as busy. We went on a Monday this time, and it was not crowded as opposed to the first time we were there on a busy Saturday.
We’ve been eating here for a while, their Chicken Milanese is my favorite! I give this a 3-stars because we’ve been here a ton of times and their staff is usually excellent and the food is exceptional!
Be careful! The last time we went our server (who in the end told us they were new) served me a dish that was NOT gluten free. I understand coming from the restaurant industry that things get mixed up. Not only did they assure me it was the dish I ordered but I was mortified when they assured me it was also 100% gluten free only to hear from them 15-minutes after I began eating the dish was not gluten free or the dish I ordered. I dropped the ball thinking, maybe they switched the dish up and was confident in their response. Not only did they make a mistake which I understand happens by serving me the wrong dish, the manager was not informed. They also said that the dish did not have a lot of gluten, as if that would even make a difference. They handed us the check and said this will be the toughest part, full price for our meal including the dish I was supposed to be served but wrapped in a to-go box. I couldn’t bare the thought of even eating it after I practically finished my entire meal containing gluten. I was terrified of my body’s reaction after not having gluten in over 10 years I begged my partner to pay so we could leave and go to the pharmacy.
I do hope they are more adamant with new staff and the severity and importance of serving customers with food allergies. We were very disappointed with how it was handled and I’m not sure that I can overcome that awful experience. Now if we do go out I am stricter more than ever, and constantly double check with the server, my health depends on it.
5 strong stars. Not only is the food to die for but the wait staff is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. I had the eggplant to start and the chicken Marsala for my meal, with a cider to wash it down. I love that they have GF dishes that you can’t get anywhere else. The restaurant itself is also beautiful. We will be long time regulars.
Went for new years eve dinner. They had their regular menu which was nice. Gluten free menu with lots of choices .I got the chicken piccata with roasted potatoes and green beans. It was very good service was good too. The only negative thing is they don't give you enough food. Both my husband and I were still hungry when we got done
The food was great, service was fast and friendly. Three stars because I asked for a gluten free beer, the only choice was Omission beer, not a good choice for someone with celiac disease. My mistake, I took a taste before reading the disclaimer on the label and now I'm sick the next day and probably the next 3 days. A celiac safe beer would be made with sorghum not barley. Would have given 5 stars if the staff let me know the Omission beer may not be safe for me.
Excellent food and very celiac friendly. They had a separate gluten free menu. Our waiter Justin was very knowledgeable about cross contamination. Gluten free rolls were delicious as were the main courses. Manager came out to serve our food and to explain how the chef prevented cross contamination. Very good food and great dining experience.
We went to Avvio for lunch yesterday. My son needed a gluten free option. They provided a separate menu and my son loved his chicken parm. The waiter was also very good.
Second time going to this place and it is amazing! Not only are they knowledgeable and willing to modify dishes, they offer a gf roll at the beginning of service free of charge. They also make the most amazing gf pizza I've ever had. Seriously, I had to go look on their website to make sure it was gf. Service is impeccable and food is worth every penny. They think of every detail and then take it to the next level. If you are gluten free and in Cranston stop what your doing and go to avvio now.
Part of the Newport Restaurant Group and all of their restaurants are AMAZING and especially amazing when it came to the gluten free menus. Staff is very knowledgable and you can almost order anything off the regular menu and they will modify it for you. Great place, celiac friendly
