This was a disappointment. The server encouraged us to order fries even though it’s not a dedicated fryer. I had to dig and question what else was cooked in the fryer. They forgot the fruit as the side and left off our starter. When we inquired about the starter, they replaced it with a non-GF item. Maybe it was an off day for them. It was just an extremely frustrating experience.
My celiac child got sick after eating here last night. Had a supposed GF burger abd fruit but must have had cross contamination. Have rated here before without any issue but not last night
**FRIES ARE NOT GLUTEN FREE**
My lowish star ranking is somewhat of a reflection on the reviews I read here prior to going to this restaurant, rather than the restaurant itself. With such high rankings here, I expected a lot, but what I experienced didn't live up to the rankings on this site.
My burger on a gluten free bun was good, but nothing to write home about. I thought it was a bit pricey for what I got.
I'd read a recent review here that said that the fries were safe, so I trusted that information. We went out of our way to go to this place, just to get there and find out that their fries are in no way gluten free. I like burgers, but burgers without fries aren't much of a treat, and I wouldn't have gone out of my way if I'd known that I couldn't have the fries.
Going on 11 years with having celiac disease, I seek out restaurants that have gluten free fried food, because frying at home is messy and kind of a pain, so having fried food at restaurants is a huge (and rare) treat. So when I was traveling to Charlotte, I wanted to go to places where I could get fried foods.
I did not get sick at Bad Daddy's, and my food was fine, but I found myself wishing we'd gone back to Burton's instead, where I could have gotten gluten free fries.
Love this place. They have their own GF menu with a nice variety the buns are yummy for being GF. Love the music they play in here as well.
I had a turkey burger on a GF bun and it was delicious! I also had the sweet potato fries and didn’t get sick. Everything was great and I cannot wait to go back!
One of the house specialties, the bacon cheeseburger, was absolutely the best hamburger I've ever had even on a gluten free bun, which often are dry and not tasty. The restaurant was so loud you really can't go there to have a conversation with anyone. The restaurant decor is fun to look at and the wait staff is helpful. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meal. I'm still thinking about how good my burger was and wish I lived close enough to visit again soon! If you're in Charlotte, don't miss it!!
Great food! Great service! Ellie the bartender was amazing! I would definitely recommend this place. πππ
The food is great, but it's always so hectic here that I'm never 100% confident that my food will be handled carefully. They carry the table's food out (gf & non-gf) on a single tray, so if you're very sensitive be sure to ask them to plate it separately (I do every time, but it's always a crap shoot whether or not they will comply). Sides are limited but burgers and (tons of) toppings are fantastic!!! I skip the bun & go straight for a lettuce wrap eaten with fork & knife. They serve Cape Cod chips in individual bags or a fruit bowl on the side.
Kid friendly, casual atmosphere. Great burgers on ok gluten free buns. Better than Udis bread but not as fabulous as McMenamins buns.
Fries are not gluten free and desserts are not dairy free so our options were limited.
Service was friendly & prompt.
We will return.
Fantastic burgers and good gf buns ( not too thick like Udi's). This is a new favorite for our family.
Came here for late lunch on a Thursday and it wasn’t very busy. They have a separate gf menu that is actually in a plastic case, which may be the first I’ve seen of that! The gf menu is limited, mainly consisting of a couple sides and the byo burger and salad options, instead of all the burgers on their main menu. I got a double angus burger with a variety of toppings. The primary side available is “kettle chips” which was not their house chips, instead just a bag. The burger was outstanding, it unfortunately defeated the bun with its juiciness, but that was somewhat expected. Toppings and service were top notch.
I’ve gone into this restaurant thrice, once by myself and twice with friends who wanted to eat there. The time l went by myself, l sat at the bar for 20 min and neither the manager nor the bartender greeted me, despite them obviously both seeing me. Both times l went with friends, l was told that the kitchen staff is poorly trained about gluten free cooking and that no thought is given to cross contamination. I was told that corporate marks what’s GF on the menu, so the kitchen just assumes the food comes to the table GF because corporate knows the ingredients. All the three times l left without eating.
I love this place!!! I’m always hesitant to try new places, but I felt very safe after speaking to the staff. They answered all my questions about cross-contamination, changing gloves, and understanding my celiac. From the GF menu, I built my own burger and salad. The food was amazing!! I also did not get sick, which is the best! Definitely will be going back;)
