The food here is to die for! We tried just about everything on the menu at one meal. Fried pickles, Mac N Cheese balls, chicken fried chicken, crab cakes, the brownie AND the chocolate chip cookie skillet. So sad that we don’t live in this town, we would eat here every chance we got. WHOLE menu is GF! Super knowledgeable dedicated GF kitchen. Do NOT miss this!!!!

Hands down one of the best restaurants to go for gluten free eating. The entire menu is GF, with some options to go non-GF (e.g. wheat roll vs GF). When is the last time you had GF fried pickles?!? How about GF mac-and-cheese bites?! GF crab cakes, GF fried chicken, GF everything! And on top of that, a great staff that understands it all! Do not miss this restaurant if you are in Tuscaloosa and GF, and definitely don’t miss it if you are not, because the food is great, you wouldn’t even know it’s GF!!!

10/10 the best gluten free meal you will have in Tuscaloosa! The owners are amazing and really make you feel at home in their bistro. We were with a few people who did not need to eat gluten free and they enjoyed it just as much as the celiacs did! Will recommend this place to absolutely anyone that I can.

Entire menu is gf. Staff, chef and owner are knowledgeable about gluten, celiac and cross contamination which they've removed the risk of. Owner spent time talking to us and made us feel like family. Would recommend to those not needing gluten free as well. The food is delicious!

This place is absolutely great! Everything is gluten free and taste amazing. Able to eat freely with no worry of cross contamination at all.

No only is the food great but the customer service was above and beyond. Between the server and the owner it was an amazing experience. Has a great family feeling. They even gave us free gf dessert for a birthday celebration.

The owner shared with my family and I some of the thought behind the restaurant. His family has multiple people that have celiac or gluten intolerance. He’s goal is to make sure people with or without gluten diet restrictions can eat freely while being in a family environment.

I am delighted that Tuscaloosa finally has a restaurant for those with celiacs to enjoy. This bistro offers options that I can never get when eating out- chicken fingers and fries!The gluten free cookie and ice cream dessert was great. The only thing I did not care for was the tomato sauce on the risotto balls. As for my non-gluten free friends- One member of our party had the grilled cheese with tomato soup but the sauce was too spicy for her to enjoy. She liked the deviled eggs though. One in our party had the Philly cheesesteak and said it was okay. Finally, one person had the meatball sub but also felt it was just okay. Overall, those in my party would rate this restaurant as 3 stars. The prices are reasonable, for the 4 meals, two appetizers (albeit small), and two cocktails we spent around $120. I have not been back but I would consider visiting again. The atmosphere is very nice and our server was lovely.

Great restaurant! At least 90% if not more of the menu gluten free. Owner and chef’s families have Celiac’s so no worries about cross contamination! Awesome chicken fingers, fried pickles,arancinis burgers! It’s all great.

We loved our experience at Bistro 17! Our 15 year old with celiac was thrilled to be able to order almost anything on the menu. There were so many gluten free options . She had the chicken fingers which she loved. The staff were very knowledgeable about celiac disease and described excellent safety protocols. We even had a lovely gluten free dessert (a warm chocolate chip cookie and ice cream). This place is a must if you are in the area.

Love this place, majority of the menu is marked gluten free and DELICIOUS. I am obsessed with the fried risotto and was so excited to look at a menu with so many gluten free options. The chef and owners all have family with celiac so they’re very knowledgeable and safe, the kitchen has separate utensils and cooking spaces for gluten free items. Can’t wait to come back, well worth the trip
