When letting the manager/waiter know I had Celiac's, she mentioned she had a wheat allergy herself, and her daughter/chef had Celiac's. They're incredibly knowledgeable about gluten, cross contamination, and take extensive effort to provide a safe and quality meal.
The burgers and sandwiches use Udi's GF buns, the aus jus is GF, they have separate friers so fries and non battered items are safe too. We even walked away with an apple cobbler to finish the meal.
The food was amazing but more than anything it's just great knowing the entire restaurant is built around being safe. Cannot recommend enough!
Excellent meal wasn’t remotely concerned about safety. Both of our kids and I have celiac and I’m extremely sensitive. As others said, at this location they have gluten free buns, a dedicated fryer, and the owner’s family has multiple allergies. Their adult daughter works in the kitchen and has celiac so you’re in good hands. My kids had cheeseburgers and fries and I had the jalapeño burger lettuce wrapped because I wasn’t feeling like a bun. The fries and tater toes were gluten free along with the potato salad, coleslaw, and garden salad. Lots of choices on the menu from burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, and loaded potatoes. Their dipping sauces were also gluten free.
They take allergies very seriously here. The Mangers wife has a wheat allergy and his daughter is celiac so they are very knowledgeable about cross contamination. They have a dedicated gf fryer for fries. They have a fry salt that has no gluten but is made in a facility with wheat so its left off unless you ask for it. I've gone a bunch of times, it's our go to dine out place. I'm extremely sensitive to gluten and I've never gotten sick. I get a Hawaiian burger with gf bun and it's delicious. Their food is fantastic. I absolutely recommend this wonderful restaurant.
My son and I both have celiac disease and are so thankful that we found Bob’s Burgers in Puyallup! Our server, Johnet, was very knowledgeable (she said she has celiac family members) so we get very comfortable with her. The General Manager (along side our fantastic server) did a great job making sure that we were 100% safe. The food was AMAZING! This will be my family’s go to restaurant as long as Johnet is our server.
Be careful with the fires/jos. Our server told us that the oil is strained through the same filter as the non-gluten-free fryer oil, so there may be cross-contamination. I was very appreciative that she told us about it.
when my burger was delivered it had a regular bun so i told her no that suppised to be gf, she took it and returned with a new one well i believe they just took the bun off and put a gf on it rather than make a new one. i havent been that sick in a while. i called and was told "we are not a gf facility" ok i wont go back again.
The staff is very knowledgeable about celiac. Jordan, our waitress, she was awesome. I had a chicken salad made with romaine lettuce, the dressing was gluten free & delicious! . The salad also had feta cheese and mandarin oranges. They have great burgers, I highly recommend this restaurant. My husband and I both enjoyed the delicious food!
Very good burgers and buns are nice and tasty. Very good gluten free menu
Stopped here with a group on the way through. I got super lucky with Tyler as the server for our group. I asked about the fryer- he was super honest letting me know it’s just a different basket in a shared fryer. When I ordered my burger on a GF bun with a side salad, he doubled checked about croutons, leaving them off and knew the brand of dressing. It was a good cheeseburger, plus the other six people in the group were happy with their meals.
According to our server, this place changed ownership 7/1/24 and with that the fryers are now dedicated to fries only. We cannot have tots for gf. The food was average 🤷🏼♀ meh. The fries had a Cajun spice that I personally didn’t care for. My partner is not gf and he ordered onion rings and received SO many onion rings he could’ve shared with three people. The burger was good and as usual, the gf bun fell apart. No reactions. The service was underwhelming. At one point I ran to the bathroom (we’d been waiting on our server a few minutes & a few other tables too) and she was sitting at a “hidden” table chatting with another staff who was eating lunch. When they both made it back to the tables/sections, almost every table needed something or multiples of something. Also ran out of water/drinks. They also didn’t know that the change had been made to the fryers (I had called to dbl check before we went & so she had to run and triple check). Based on the gf options, my partner and I both said we would’ve rather gone to Red Robin for the cost/outing.
Apart from the burgers with a gluten free bun, there is really no gluten free options. I ordered a salad that was labeled GF on the menu and it came with two slices of bread in contact with the salad. All of the fish is breaded and even things like nachos and fries cannot be made gluten free. There's really not a lot of options.
Called to do a take out order. The person at the host stand wasn’t too informed on the kitchen procedures which was not surprising. She did put me on hold to ask someone though, and she confirmed that my burger could be prepped on a separate surface from items containing gluten. I ended up getting a baked potato as my side. Asymptomatic so can’t speak on cross contamination. On the plus side, the GF burger bun was pretty good and didn’t completely fall apart.
