Very good experience here! I called before placing a takeout order to confirm that almost all of their menu is gluten free (except items like the Mac and cheese which I’d have predicted were not gluten free) and had no issues with any of the food.
I was eating family style with others, so I tried both types of beans, rice, plantains, pulled pork, creamed chicken, chips, and yucca frites as well as their green sauce. In related news, I’m now addicted to the green sauce…
These guys catered my wedding! Everything is gf except for the cornbread and mac&cheese. I’ve eaten here an uncountable number of times, and I’ve never gotten sick. They take allergies seriously and are knowledgeable. My go-to place if I don’t want to cook. Would suggest the chicken (any variety), pulled pork, vegan curry, and yucca fries (these are a can’t-miss item). Beans are flavorful as well and are a great companion to anything on the menu.
Brasa is quickly becoming a favorite place for my husband and I to go to for yummy food in St. Paul! The menu has great variety and the green sauce that comes on the side is SO GOOD! Almost the entire menu is gluten free and what isn't GF is clearly stated on the menu. There are also multiple options for ordering to accomodate different group sizes and tastes. Brasa is great for a single meal as well as ordering family style!
My go to gluten free restaurant! There are only 3 things containing gluten on the menu, so it's the kind of place where you can eat safely AND your non-celiac friends can also enjoy the offerings. Delicious comfort food, knowledgeable staff. Have eaten here a dozen times and have never gotten sick
I was introduced to the restaurant by a former employee who raved about the restaurant's ethics: Insurance, 401k with company match, profit sharing, paid time off, etc. So I feel good about supporting the business, and good about the food!
Just the best. Everything here is gluten free and it’s all so good. They have many different menus based on allergens you just have to ask.
Went here for our anniversary. Ok food. Decent service. Told them I had celiac disease and they said there would be absolutely no problem, by two people that worked there. Well there was. Completely ruined the next two days, was sick the entire time. Sent a message to the business to tell them what happened, they read the message teo hours later. Five days later, still no response. Very disappointing.
Brasa does a great job, I do emphasize I have celiac and then I don’t react. The few times I haven’t clarified I have celiac, I have reacted. We had them cater our rehearsal dinner this summer and they went above and beyond. Love making the trip over to St. Paul for this delicious food!
I have been to the Mpls location and finally made it to St. Paul. Everything except the sandwiches and corn bread are GF. Makes it easy to order. They also have a selection of GF ciders and beer. Indoor and outdoor seating. If it is nice out, they will roll the doors open.
What an amazing dinner! The fried cassava was amazing. The yellow curry equally so. The chocolate bar for dessert was delicious.
I am a very sensitive celiac. I eat at the Minneapolis brasa 3-4x per week. It is very safe, and I’ve never had a problem. I also have a Nima sensor, like one of the people below. It isn’t totally reliable as it sometimes has false positives— look up the gluten free watchdog and several other online studies.
It pains me to have to downgrade my previous five star review, but tonight I took my Nima sensor and my dish came back Gluten Found (I told them I have CD and to put an allergy alert on my order). The staff offered to make me another dish; their response was that they are careful but no further explanation/details. I'm celiac and do not plan to go back - the CC risk seems too high. I wish they would go 100% GF!
I really didn't want to leave this review, but I feel I owe it to fellow Celiacs. Server was knowledgeable and confident about GF options, so I'm still giving 2 stars. But my plate not only had an errant piece of macaroni on it, but I found a second piece that had clearly been cooked in with the black beans, causing cross-contamination to the entire pot of beans. I didn't find it until after eating some beans, causing me to have a pretty nasty upset stomach ache on my vacation. The server and manager tried SO HARD to make it up to us...they were lovely and truly felt horrible. But it was too late and there was nothing to be done. So 2 stars for service but beware a kitchen that clearly has cross-contamination issues.
Our waitress knew the non-GF items well--most items are GF. Great taste and service. We will definitely come back. We had the BBQ beef and the roasted pork plates. Black beans and rice, and red beans and rice were exceptionally flavorful.
My favorite place to eat when visiting the Twin Cities. There are few things on the menu that I can't eat. Tried to pulled chicken this time and it was unbelievable. Gravy in a restaurant. That never happens. And I could eat my weight in yucca fries with the dipping sauce. Love it
Great food and very little gluten items. I've ordered here for work and eaten in the restaurant a couple times. They are very conscientious about gluten safety and the masa cakes are amazing!
We’ll eat here every time! It’s our new favorite in the cities!
This was my favorite restaurant long before being diagnosed with celiac. So I was pretty thrilled to find their menu to be predominantly gluten free. The servers are great...very knowledgable, and very helpful. And, of course, the food is amazing. Brasa is the ultimate in comfort food for celiacs.
