Review of Cafe Avalaun

1st time visitor... came all the way from the west side just for the Mardi gras special menu. Catfish po'boy and 'beignets' (glorified funnel cake balls) were amazing!! Ordered shrimp/duck/andouille gumbo... no shrimp in my bowl and def lacking in creole flavor/spice, but still quite good... just not $12 a bowl good. The 'paczki' were so disappointing tho... Overly fried, crispy grease biscuits. Would've been better off filling those little 'beignets' puffs with custard and jam... now that I'd go back for! Paczki, not so much.
