Great brunch place! Staff was knowledgeable and accommodating regarding Celiac needs and cross-contamination. Separate prep area for GF food, and the meal came out with a red flag in it to note that it was GF. Would definitely come here again!
This place was great. Didn’t get sick. When i went service wasn’t great. It was on a convention weekend and the place was kind of crazy, so maybe that’s why. Still, a story: I had a make your own omelet and told them I need it to be cooked separately. When it arrived there was one piece of bacon inside, and bacon wasn’t one of my toppings. So I’m not totally sure about how separate they made it!
I go to this place all the time and it is consistently great food with reliable service and knowledgeable people in regards to GF. Menu items are clearly marked and have never had any issues. Im shocked there’s not more positive reviews on this place.
My new favorite brunch spot! Breakfast can be so tough to find gluten free, so Patachou is my favorite for a weekend brunch or lunch! It’s a great atmosphere. I’ve come here many times and never had an issue. The cinnamon toast is my favorite. If you are very sensitive or have celiac, make sure to mention it and ask for them to grill the toast rather than putting it in the toaster. And it will come out with a little flag so you know it’s GF! I’ve also had many of the omelettes and sandwiches - all delicious!
This is not your usual Patachou. No separate kitchen or toaster. The waitress warned me of cross contamination, listened intently as I said I could not eat gluten or dairy, to include butter or milk, then brought me buttered toast. The bread was at least GF.
Love this place, but have been disappointed with the switch in bread for those with celiac! Three stars due to the fact that the staff was not aware initially how the bread was made...in a shared kitchen with shared equipment. Definitely not safe for those with celiac!! I have been sick eating the bread, along with several friends. Staff should be transparent in telling those ordering gf that the bread is made in a shared facility on shared equipment.
This was a little stressful. Lots of gf options with lots of cross contamination. I have Lara bars and almonds for travel, but I decided to try the turkey chili based on another celiac review. I Nima tested it to make sure, and it was safe. The waitress was not well informed and seemed annoyed when I asked about the cooking utensils, pans, toaster, etc. But I’m happy to have a safe option in a sea of cc!
Since the gf bread switch I have not eaten here as often, used to go twice a week. Native oat bread is made in a shared kitchen on shared equipment, the staff does not share this. Not safe for those with celiac disease like me!!!
Staff was extremely knowledgeable about Celiac and cross contamination. I have eaten here 3 times in 3 days and everything is great. They put a little flag on your plate to show it’s gluten free and do everything they can to prevent cross contamination. I tested their gluten free waffle with my Nima tester and it came out truly gluten free :)
Menu items labeled as gluten free are misleading - the soup said gluten free but was served with croutons. Waiter didn’t seem knowledgeable on why this was a problem. Would eat here again but would ask more questions about the food and prep.
Celiac, ate there two days in a row. On the second day I learned the candied walnuts were prepared in flour on their spinach salad. Their protocol, marking your food with flags is good but don't let your guard down. Question the prep of your food. I will eat there again. I will just be more careful.
My husband and I recently visited Indy. Because I need to eat gluten free, it can be hard to eat while traveling, so we always appreciate restaurants that offer allergen free meals. Cafe Patachou has so many options for gluten free eaters (even waffles!). We ate at the restaurant four times because the food was that amazing. In addition to the food, price was reasonable, and the service was excellent. Each server was highly attentive to my allergy. During one visit, we witnessed a man outside the restaurant get hit by a car; one of the servers ran outside with an umbrella and stood in the pouring rain to shield first responders. He then came back in and finished his shift!
Yes yes YES!!! Excellent wait staff. Very knowledgeable about gluten free. Safe for a Celiac. Very busy place so plan ahead and arrive early. SO WORTH THE WAIT! They have many gf options. I had the Simple Broken Yolk (eggs, white cheddar & avocado on gf toast & fruit). Toast is prepared in a separate gf toaster. AMAZING! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This was a great find! The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. Our server, Michelle, was very knowledgeable about the gluten free options and attentive to all our dietary concerns. Will definitely be back!
GF Belgian waffles! This food was absolutely amazing… You would never know that it was gluten-free. Very trendy vibe in this busy downtown cafe. Definitely a place I will return to next time I'm downtown Indy.
For breakfast or lunch this place is great. Many things on the menu either are gf or can be made to be including the sandwiches. I really appreciate a place that I don't have to educate and this is one of them. tip: Ask if the specials are gf.
If you have celiacs, beware. The GF bread is toasted in the same toaster and utensils used to make sandwiches are used making all sandwiches- cross contamination is high and guaranteed. The turkey Chili is good and the salads are made to order. I was fortunate to have a server who also has celiacs who kept me safe
GF waffle excellent, server very knowledgeable
Wow! Amazing food here! Was impressed in how they handled my order and pointed out what was gluten free. Definitely a safe and tasty option for someone with celiac. Literally the only thing I could knock, is its a bit hard to figure out which items are gluten free as they are mixed throughout the menu... but who cares! There are great options and it tasted awesome.
They have gluten free bread so you can get one of their yummy sandwiches.
