Huge, family style portions (including appetizers). Waiter asked about allergies and brought a gluten free menu, then helped explain the options. My son said it was the best pasta he ever had. He's a13 year old foodie who is not gluten free but had to share my gf pasta. We had the mixed seafood dish. The portions were big enough for 4 or 5 people, so the price was a little high for 3 and we couldn't finish it all. Well worth it though. Great experience. I'm very gluten sensitive and did not get sick.
Fantastic quality food. Although there is a limited GF menu, the servers here are very knowledgeable and many of the normal pasta dishes are available GF even though they are not on the GF menu. The potions are enormous and are for sharing (easily feed 2+ people per choice. My hubby had to share mine, but the GF pasta was cooked to perfection and probably one of the best either of us has tasted.
Went with some friends. They had its own gluten free menu with a wide variety. The waiter asked if there were any allergies then brought out the menu for me. On the menu it does mention that it has a chance of cross contamination. It isn’t a gluten free kitchen. They were very careful about my foods surroundings! I got the Vodka Pasta it was big enough to feed both me and my husband. IT WAS THE BEST PASTA I HAVE EVER HAD! My husband couldn’t even tell it was gluten free.
While they are not a dedicated gluten-free facility, they did a good job and avoided any cross-contamination. Since their servings are enormous, the two of us shared a shrimp marinara dish that was very good. We skipped the gluten-free pasta.
Reservations are a necessity, and even with that we had a bit of a wait. Very busy place!
Right across 44th St from the Shubert Theatre. Huge and noisy old fashioned restaurant. Food was family style and also huge! Our bill was high for two people, but not for the four it was meant to serve. Our salad was good and hearty. Our chicken, sausage, potato, peppers meal was also huge and hearty, in fact the platter was hard to lift! The flourless chocolate torte was rich and served with creme fresh. The server was knowledgeable, pleasant and competent. In general the place was great fun, but this was not fine dining. The menu was extensive. Next time I would try the gf pasta. I did not get sick.
Great restaurant, one plate in the middle with glutenfree paste, delicious! Bit noisy, a lot of people together. Waiter helped with choise sauce for GF!
We ordered from the gluten free menu, even had a long conversation with the waiter about celiac disease and being GF. When we commented how good the gluten free pasta was, the waiter told us he forgot we wanted GF and it was regular pasta. He even made a joke about it! I will never eat here again and would certainly not recommend it if you have celiac disease. They do not take it seriously.
I love this place! They have huge portions and they have gluten free pasta!!
The portions are huge! We chose a GF/DF dish: pasta (cornmeal & water) with broccoli, grilled chicken, garlic and olive oil. It was fantastic!! My son loved it!! We all did! Definitely coming back! The Lifrieri's
