The waiter we had was not knowledgeable at all. Told me all the bread was GF so I suspect he has no idea what gluten is. I asked him to double check and of course it wasn’t! The burger with mushrooms was absolutely delicious though and the hot fudge sundae was enormous and tasty. Good food but not knowledgeable staff.
They offer a good variety of gluten free menu options. I’ve had nachos, pasta, salads, entrees and dessert. There is no sacrificing yumminess for health. Everything was great. Service was good. We dined here several times over the last few years. The greatest thing of all is that I’ve never been sick after eating here. When I want a tasty meal and need to make sure I won’t be sick after enjoying my meal, I choose the Bridgewater Cheesecake Factory.
They can bring out a toasted GF bun instead of bread, which is nice. I had a GF pasta dish. I did not have any flourless cheesecake. I had a very bad reaction, was throwing up all night long. I haven’t had a bad reaction at other cheesecake factories, and I don’t know what this place did to gluten poison me. I probably won’t be back to any cheesecake factory.
We have eaten here numerous times We have been told the fryer is dedicated to fries only Waitress just told us fries are gluten free but the chicken nuggets are fried in it Manager came over to say they are fried next to each other and the bc the baskets are so close especially in a busy nite there could be cross contamination. He also said same thing for the chips and guac. Come on People get this right Its either gluten free or its not. 😡😡😡
The food tasted great! I ordered a Hamburger and French fries, under the assurance it was gluten free and they even have a separate fryer for gluten safety.... GOT GLUTENED. I think they aren’t careful and I also think that when you say “Gluten Free - I am Gluten Allergic - I have Celiac” waiters think Gluten Free Preference, which is completely different than Gluten allergic, and they don’t care. Great food, just not safe.
I have never been sick here but do be extremely careful because there seems to be so many ways to get CCed here. A huge issue for me is that managers don’t bring out the GF plates so it’s up to the individual server and their knowledge, even if you carefully alert them. There are other small issues that make me feel unsafe. Like when I ask if the GF cheesecake can be sliced separately and get an attitude. The attitude that I’ve gotten from a few servers is what makes me nervous (some have been very helpful though). Even though I haven’t been sick it is never my first, second choice or even third choice to go here. Oh one more thing! And I know you all know this but never assume something is GF. For example, they cook their edamame in the pasta water!
I had a great time at TCF - there are many GF menu items to choose from! I wasn’t expecting such a diverse range of options so I was actually a little overwhelmed (not a bad thing!). Menu items that are are naturally GF or can be made as such are marked on the menu. My only disappointment was lack of gluten free cheesecake. I never expect desserts at restaurants to be gluten free but TCF had marketed they have several cheesecakes, however I only saw one on the menu and in the facility. Overall had an amazing experience with my friends despite long wait times. Staff was exceptional.
Usually we have good experiences here... until our last visit. Ordered my celiac daughter gf pasta and explained her diseases/allergy prior to ordering. Pasta came out with a gluten spaghetti noodle mixed in with gf penne. Spoke with the manager and server and they both said they understood and had another dish prepared. Manager said she spoke with the kitchen herself. The second dish came out with yet another gluten spaghetti noodle in the gf penne. We were livid. Manager was clearly embarrassed and couldn’t explain how this could have happened. Will not go back.
Update- came back and felt fairly safe after my first visit (review below) but this time ended up sick within half hour. Positive it was the food. Waitress asked ME what kind of dressing I could have. I guess she didn’t check the ingredients. I’m also dairy free and I said no cheese but maybe they put butter on the gf roll. But I checked online at their allergen menu and the dressing she gave me had gluten. I didn’t think to check online beforehand. Won’t be returning. Also said fries weren’t safe but said they were the last time I was there. Doesn’t sound like they really know. With such a huge menu it’s hard to imagine prep is free of cross contamination. I got a burger on an udis roll. My waitress assured me that their fryer for French fries is gluten free because nothing aside from regular and sweet potato fries go in there. I don’t know if it’s safe for celiac but I’m ok today. They have clearly marked items on menu.
I apologize I forgot the name of our waitress but she was so incredibly helpful. She found out weather the special was gluten free (sadly it wasn’t), made sure the kitchen would use fresh water to boil gluten free noodles, and had the chefs completely clean their utensils when cutting me a slice of cheesecake. I ended up just getting salmon and a coffee cheesecake, but it all tasted amazing and I didn’t get sick at all. I took one star off just because they don’t have many gluten free options even with the extensiveness of the menu. Only two cheesecakes are gluten free and then the basic foods... gluten free pasta, gluten free buns for your burger, salmon, steak, or salad. The company really needs to have some more options available, but the food and service was good regardless.
Place seems not very well maintained. Used to be one of my favourite chains. In this one you find dirty silverware, sticky tables, waiter with dirty shirt... there are some gf items in the menu upon request. The waiter was not very knowledgeable on what could be done gf (eg the fries). Some hours later we were not feeling very well. I would not recommend
Cheesecake factory has such a huge menu, it’s kind of sad how few gluten free menu items they actually have. I decided to give this place a go anyways because the Godiva gf cheesecake is pretty darn amazing. For my entree, I decided to try the chicken soft tacos because they seemed the least likely to be subject to cross contamination. The waiter just nodded when I told him I have a gluten allergy, so that should have been a red flag. He didn’t write it down, just said, “Yeah yeah, don’t worry the tacos you ordered are already gluten free.”Well my food came out cold and the tacos were mediocre at best but I was there for the cheesecake anyways. That was the only time I ate out that day, so later that night when I got sick, I think I can safely assume Cheesecake Factory was the culprit. They probably did not employ proper food handling precautions because the waiter failed to communicate it to anyone in the kitchen. Or maybe even if he did, there is just a greater chance of contamination at places with huge menus like Cheesecake Factory. Either way, if you have Celiac disease, I would NOT eat here. Just don’t.
I just found out they have a GF bun! I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger last night through DoorDash and it was amazing. I can't say if cross-contamination is an issue because I didn't eat there, but I have celiac and did not feel even a little sick. Their fries are GF too. They also have a separate menu which is always a plus! Hopefully, they'll continue expanding it.
I placed an order to go in person and ordered a GF option. While waiting I noticed there was no GF indication on my receipt and said something to another employee. Thankfully this other person checked and realized the person who keyed the order in did not specify GF. They did remake my order but the carelessness made me uneasy. Please triple check that your meal is in fact GF if you eat here.
NOT SAFE! My son got so sick after we went. We went to the Cambridge one and I kept reminding them of gluten allergy and asking to make sure his food was safe and he still got so sick. I even had the manager come over.
Not everything is gf, but they have indicators next to items that say “gf upon request”. They do have gf buns for burgers. And their french fries are gluten free! Just make sure to let your server know about your allergy!
The four cheese pasta was really good, but I found a couple of non gluten free pasta mixed in with my “gluten free” pasta. I will not be going back, they obviously do not care about cross contamination. Do not recommend.
At our last visit, our waitress informed us that the "dedicated gluten free fryer" is NOT always kept gluten free, particularly if the restaurant is busy (when is The Cheesecake Factory not busy?!). She explained that the kitchen will often fry gluten-contaminated items in there if they are in a rush, and that there is no way to know if someone did this earlier in the day. She also explained that the kitchen staff frequently handle gluten-containing food over the gluten-free fryer, so there is a chance that gluten could fall in. The most alarming out of all of this is I have eaten here before and have NEVER been told this information. In fact, I've been told the opposite ("completely gluten free,"). My silverware and plate were dirty (possible contamination) and when I was brought new silverware, it was ALSO DIRTY. So sad about this experience!
The manager assured us the bun was gluten free & the fries were fried in a dedicated fryer. However, we used a Nima to test fries & a bacon burger & the results were positive for gluten. It was disappointing since the food at other locations has been safe.
I’m not even Celiac, just gluten sensitive, but man am I disappointed. The amount of GF options are sad and even when they claim to be GF, they definitely are not since I woke up with a watermelon shaped stomach!
The food was delicious, but I found regular spaghetti noodles that weren't gluten free in my gluten free pasta. They were nice about it, but I can't help but think they cooked it in the same water as regular noodles which is scary.
Visited twice during our stay in Wakiki. Great burger buns very light and even doubled checked that they were Gluten free. Fries are gluten free and cooked in separate fryer. Staff had great knowledge of celiac. Would go back again!
I went several times and it was every thing ok, the food is excellent but I never ask for a gluten free cake. This last time I did and I regret, because the people who served the cakes they don’t know or don’t care about cross contamination because I got sick and I had a bad time. What I saw later was that they use the same pallet knife to serve a regular cheese cake and a gluten free cake. However, I will came back because the rest of the menu is well prepared.
I'm a little confused with the people saying the cheesecake is gluten free when their own menu states that none of them are. Also there seems to be some confusion about whether they have separate fryers or not. The restaurant states in this menu that people with allergies should avoid all fried foods. Frankly, after reading over this menu I don't want to chance it at all.
Not only was the food cold when it finally got here, it was on a REGULAR BUN. Absolutely unacceptable, when I wrote gluten free AND gluten allergy in the instructions. This restaurant should be removed from the app. Absolutely terrible.
