On a roadtrip from Seattle to Denver my car with a celiac searched Find Me Gluten Free for Rock Springs and was really excited to check out this place.

We came in, greeted politely, were seated fairly promptly despite being a table of 4 in a kind of busy time. We were all fairly exhausted as we ordered but the waitress was very kind.

Our celiac individually asked first for a gluten free menu and was told everything on the menu (with some exceptions) could be made gluten free. That was great news.

So bolstered by this our celiac states "I am celiac, could you please inform the cooks that cross-contamination is an issue." She then proceeds to ordering a burger.

The rest of us order without a thought and when the food arrives the waitress hasn't separated one of the plates which should have been a warning sign. Additionally we don't notice at first but the buns of all 4 burgers appear to be the same. Very briefly my exhausted brain assumed that they had made all the burgers with gluten free buns, or perhaps that everything here was gluten free.

My celiac friend takes a bite of her burger and swallows, when her boyfriend and I both panic and tell her to put it down.

There were warning signs that we should have been more vigilant. The waitress didn't confirm what my friend had said, she hadn't isolated her plate, and we didn't closely inspect the food upon arrival due to our own exhaustion.

But the damage was done, our friend had been glutened by this restaurant. She went to go try and vomit, but the flour was on her lips and things were bad. Some emergency administration of prescription drugs we were able to stave off the worst, but at the end of the day what was a group of 4 friends traveling cross country turned into an unfortunate affair while one of our members suffered immensely for days from a completely avoidable situation.

I was severely disappointed in this event, we very nearly got up to leave without bothering to eat but knowing that we were on a schedule the other three of us forced ourselves to choke down our burgers while our friend vomited in the bathroom. We then paid, minus our celiac friend whom they had taken the meal off the menu, and we got back in our car and continued on.

Maybe this place is celiac friendly, maybe the staff was busy or it was just a freak accident, but I wouldn't go back to this place if I had a choice. If I was here, I'd make damn sure to check and recheck every little thing. Maybe their fryer is dedicated as they say, or maybe they are just lucky so far to not gluten anyone else.

If you go here, make it very clear that you need to be gluten free, and when you get your food, double check with the waitress that what they brought you is gluten free, and then visually inspect every piece yourself to be sure.
