I’ve gotten sick a couple times here, but I’m a super sensitive Celiac.
My sister told them that she has celiacs disease and once they realized she was talking about gluten they kicked it into high gear, they changed gloves, wiped down the counter, changed utensils, and took the cheese from a fresh container without being asked. BEST CHIPOTLE EVER!
She changed her gloves without me even asking. She also got fresh cheese because it could be touched by the gloves. Pretty awesome!
I am newly gluten free and have been nervous to eat out anywhere. I had a graft experience at Chipotle though. I asked the first guy if he could change his gloves. He asked me if I was gluten free and I told him yes. He changed out all the spoons and tongs (for what I said I would be getting) and they wiped the prep area down. They did this very fast too. The food was great and I didn't feel sick after either! 5 stars for Chipotle!
I just have to give big kuddos to this Clackamas location with incredible service to my GF demands. Staff was so amazingly understanding and friendly and absolutely didn't mind. loved the food and service.
I love this place. you can even order online and pick it up and skip their line. just order in advance. Never have been sick either.
My go to "fast food" ish restaurant. They don't seem to mine when I ask them to use fresh gloves. I've eaten there a lot and have never been glutened
really good tacos and cheaper than expected. kind of confusing if youve never been there before. everything is gf unless you order wheat tacos.
This review is for all you Chipotle eaters out there. Why you be eating this nasty food? Everytime I go I get a chunk of fat in my meat. I'm sure you'll say, "that means it's fresh". I take that as you getting fresh with me because these monkey fighters are trying to kill me. Qdoba is the place to be. Get yourself some actual good queso on your food for NO CHARGE. Both places charge for guac, so I say just make your own and bring it with. That's why God invented cargo shorts.
The staff was amazing. When I told them I had celiac‘s, everyone washed their hands and new gloves were put on. I ordered a bowl and was given ingredients from freshly made items brought out from the back with clean serving utensils. Everyone was very nice.
I used to eat here all the time, but the staff now seem less aware of celiac and how to avoid cross contamination and are unfamiliar with methods used before. After hearing repeated disclaimers and caveats, I opted to go a dedicated facility up the street.
The staff was very nice. I asked them to change their gloves and wash their hands and they did. The girl making my food offered to use the new food that had been cooked in the back, but I was in a hurry and did not want to wait. She did use all new spoons for all the toppings. Everyone was very considerate, especially for a busy evening.
I watched the staff members touch various utensils to the flour tortillas over and over again. I stepped out of line when it was my turn because this chain is very much not safe for celiacs, and the sloppy cross-contamination has ensured that I will never eat at this chain again. If you are celiac, dine at your own risk here.
Not all Chipotle’s are created equally. Michelle at this location immediately removed gloves and thoroughly washed her hands and lower arms, she got rice and beans that was on reserve (for the next refill). She took all the necessary steps to minimize cross contamination with a smile. No signs of being bothered especially since a line was forming. We need more Michelle’s. I got a rice bowl, with beans & fajita veggies. I avoid the cold toppings because of the standard use of hands or spoons touching flour tortillas.
I've eaten here now 3 times. 2 out of the 3 I told the woman behind the counter I had celiac, she immediately washed her hands and changed her gloves. Awesome. The 3rd time I ordered through their app which is a huge risk because I can't tell them about my celiac issue, but still I was fine. The biggest risk is that when they make burritos, etc. there is a chance that the spoon will touch the flour tortilla and then touch the rice/beans in your bowl, but ya kinda always take that risk when you eat out as a celiac sooo....I consider this 5 out of 5 in my book.
Great service, but I may have had a slight reaction, possibly from cross contamination. I mentioned to the lady behind the counter that I had a gluten allergy (no, celiac is not an allergy technically, but it's easier than explaining celiac in a busy restaurant and people seem to take allergies more seriously). I had barely even finished saying the word allergy and she immediately washed her hands and changed gloves before I could even ask! She was the only one who handled my food the whole way down the line, instead of passing it down like they normally would. When her coworker asked her to grab something, she said I had an allergy so she couldn't touch anything else until she finished my order. Had a burrito bowl with chicken, white rice, tomatoes, and guacamole. I could imagine there were probably plenty of opportunities for cross contamination to happen considering they don't have separate kitchen space, ingredients, or utensils, but the only thing on the menu that contains gluten is the flour tortillas, so I figured I would give it a go. They do mention on the website that any of their items containing corn (tortillas, chips, corn salsa, etc) may have come in contact with wheat during growing and harvesting, so I avoided those. I still may have had a slight reaction after eating here...perhaps since it looks like they used the same spoons and toppings for regular orders. I don't seem to be particularly sensitive, but if you are, probably best to avoid this place. Reserving judgment for now, but I was nevertheless impressed with how seriously the server took my allergy request.
The staff was very accommodating! The only items they serve that contain gluten are their tortillas. When I made them aware I needed gluten free they changed out utensils, got new ingredients, wiped down completely, washed hands and changed gloves to do their best to avoid cross contamination! I was very appreciative and was not made to feel like I was a burden! The food was amazing and the staff made the experience enjoyable! I’ve recently been diagnosed with Celiac so I’m still a little uncomfortable with asking, I love that they did their best to reassure me it was not a problem at all!
They were very accommodating when I asked them to change their gloves (even washed their hands!) also love that the chips are gluten free :) I feel safe here!
This is a great location and the staff is super knowledgeable with food allergy handling! I have celiac which is treated as a gluten allergy and the staff immediately asked if I needed them to wash their hands, and did that and changed gloves. Another employee removed the spoons from items I wanted and the one helping me used new spoons for all items and fresh cheese & lettuce. The manager (I’m assuming) was present and even reminded the cashier to bag our items (one with gluten and one without) in separate bags. The food was fresh and I was very impressed with their attention to detail.
My gosh!! This was SUCH great experience! They informed me everything in the restaurant is GF w the exception of the tortillas. My server changed his gloves, washed his hands put on new gloves and prepared my bowl. They also changed every serving spoon from my ingredients!!
The staff was very knowledgeable both times we came here. They were fab!
My searver washed her hands and regloved, got fresh bins of cheese and lettuce, placed clean spoons in each item I selected. Keep in mind a smile stayed on her face, and a polite attitude that is rarely found today. My hat is off to this young lady. Bravo chipotle, oh yes, the food was delish!
My girl friend has Celiac, We're from Attleboro and we drive to the Mansfield Chipotle because they know how to handle the allergy very seriously. They wash their hands, change gloves, wipe off surface area, and work on your order on a serperat clean tray; along with having seperate lettuce and cheese containers dedicated for allergins. Mansfield Chipotle is the shit. I feel bad sometimes Cuz we hold up the line but they work fast. Sometimes there are young bucks in there that are new to the system but that's alright just let them know and they'll retain the information, not everybody is aware of what gluten even is.
I eat here at least once a week. I am very sensitive to cross-contamination. They remember me and are always friendly. They will change their gloves upon telling them you have a gluten (or other) allergy. I always feel safe eating here. Tip if you’re new to this - don’t get the lettuce or the shredded cheese at Chipotles in general as they reach in throughout the day and after touching the flour tortillas. But they are awesome and will get you new lettuce or shredded cheese if you ask. Everything else is fine as they use a spoon for other items. All chipotles are awesome for accommodating gluten friendly and they are always very nice about it.
Updated review: I got gluten poisoning here in February 2019. Usually staff is pretty good about changing utensils and gloves, but I went at lunch when it was busy and didn’t want to be a pain. Alas, 8 months pregnant at the time, I ended up in the emergency room. Original post: As far as Chipotles go, this one is really good about avoiding cross contamination. Servers were super nice and responsive.
Excellent experience! Staff changed gloves immediately and were aware of items that were safe.
Safe, yummy food! Whenever I tell them I have celiac they change gloves, and then that person makes my food all the way down the line. They even use new serving spoons. Nearly everything on the menu is gluten free so it’s nice to have so many options.
Pretty decent! Most of the staff are more than happy to change their gloves for you/ get a fresh serving of whatever. I’ve never gotten sick, but sometimes the staff members don’t know what I’m talking about when I say “gluten allergy,” so that’s why only 4 stars.
Wouldn't recommend. They clearly don't train employees anymore on how to deal with Celiac. We told the server 3x that we needed them to get new utensils and she only changed 1 spoon in the rice (but no other items in the bowl) before ignoring the request for proper procedure. I blame poor training on her inability to do what every other Chipotle has done. Still the place was practically empty and we stupidly took a chance that the bowls we ordered would be ok on the cross-contaminated gamble. They weren't and both of us got sick. Would not recommend for celiac at all.
Never have a problem here. Food is fresh and good!!
This is my go-to fast casual. Lots of gf options. The only gluten they have are tortillas. Rather than asking staff to change gloves, I just don’t get any toppings they serve with their hands (shredded cheese or lettuce). Never gotten sick. I eat chipotle 2x week.
Chipotle is usually my saving grace, but this one freaks me out sometimes. The person at the beginning station always handles tortillas heavily, and sometimes will put almost their entire gloved hand into the next bowl (more than other Chipotle’s do). I don’t think people here are very allergy conscious, but I’ve never had a contamination problem before. The food at this locale tastes better than most!!

Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions. From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."
