Five stars! This was the first Chipotle that has ever been extra cautious. 1. Removed serving spoons. 2. Wiped down the counter. 3. Replaced all spoons for our order. 4. Washed hands and fresh gloves. 5. Fresh container of shredded cheese. The entire team switched out gloves to prepare our order. They said this is how all Chipotles should prepare GF orders. Well done AZ.
Chipotle will actually change all utensils and gloves before serving you if you tell them you have a problem with gluten. They even went to the back to get untouched lettuce for my bowl. This chain was very accommodating to my multiple allergies. I did not get sick after eating here.
I eat Chipotle regularly with few issues (controversial in celiac circles, I know), but this is one of the worst ones out there. The safety is similar to all other Chipotles, but they cannot handle the demand volume so be prepared to have half the toppings you asked for and an hour plus wait for mobile orders when the university is in session. Don’t even try getting fajita veggies or chips. Go to the one on Baum or the one on Carnegie’s campus for your own good (but to be honest all the Pittsburgh Chipotles have similar problems).
When you walk in and your daughter tells the server she has celiac and they start taking off their gloves to change them without being asked you know you are in the right place! Didn’t have to ask for any protocols. They were proactive and well informed. Always love Chipotle because my daughter can eat as close to “normal” as possible. Great experience at this location!!!
Most of the time I can eat here without a problem. Every once in a while there’s contamination. But the food is good and relatively cheap and healthy, so I usually take the risk if I need something quick or am in an unfamiliar area. Probably don’t eat here if you’re severely allergic.
