They were very accommodating and changed out all utensils and gloves.
Chipotle is my go to when traveling, but the experience varies depending on how well the staff are trained at each location. I’ve always had great luck here when it comes to knowledgeable staff.
As for chipotle in general, I always ask them to change gloves and spoons (if they don’t automatically offer, which most will). Yes there is still a chance of cross contamination even when they switch utensils but I’ve never gotten sick. And they are always willing to open a fresh container of cheese if you ask, since the gloves touch the cheese directly
Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions.
From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."
We got bowls with a bag of chips. They did well to accommodate what we asked (change gloves). But the restaurant overall was kinda dirty and disorganized. If I was very sensitive, I probably wouldn’t feel safe.
They seemed to know little about gluten allergies. I tried to ask for new scoops but unfortunately their dishes still needed to be washed. They scooped ingredients out of a cup for me instead. They didn't have fresh unopened guac so I just got chips for my side. Most everything is GF except the tortilla. Overall, there are probably better GF choices within walking distance of this restaurant.
They are great when you mention being celiac. They wipe down the board, replace all of the spoons and serving utensils, wash hands and change gloves. It was awesome. They are also mindful of what touches what. I was impressed.
All staff was well versed in the gluten free preparation procedures.
