The Mr. and I were out running errands and got hungry, so we decided to stop by Chipotle.
The atmosphere was busy and a bit loud, so we opted to sit outside and enjoy our meal in the sun.
I ordered a kid's build-your-own with brown lime cilantro rice, double chicken, tractor lemonade, and chips—all for just $5. 🎉 The rice was perfectly cooked, the chicken was well-seasoned, and the chips had just the right amount of salt. 👍🏾
I’d definitely recommend Chipotle! It’s great for people like me with allergies, they give generous portions, and for fast food, it’s a step above the usual—real meat, real rice, just all-around real ingredients.
First thing I said was I have a severe allergic reaction to wheat and if they do allergy precautions and the worker assured me they did. She then preceded to grab the lettuce for my salad with the same gloves that she made a flour tortilla with. No thanks. I apologized and left. Not safe at all.
I eat Chipotle regularly with few issues (controversial in celiac circles, I know), but this is one of the worst ones out there. The safety is similar to all other Chipotles, but they cannot handle the demand volume so be prepared to have half the toppings you asked for and an hour plus wait for mobile orders when the university is in session. Don’t even try getting fajita veggies or chips. Go to the one on Baum or the one on Carnegie’s campus for your own good (but to be honest all the Pittsburgh Chipotles have similar problems).
When you walk in and your daughter tells the server she has celiac and they start taking off their gloves to change them without being asked you know you are in the right place! Didn’t have to ask for any protocols. They were proactive and well informed. Always love Chipotle because my daughter can eat as close to “normal” as possible. Great experience at this location!!!
Most of the time I can eat here without a problem. Every once in a while there’s contamination. But the food is good and relatively cheap and healthy, so I usually take the risk if I need something quick or am in an unfamiliar area. Probably don’t eat here if you’re severely allergic.
