Right next to 4th street live. Pretty run down and kind of dirty but I’m sure there’s a million people through there a day. I told the guy I had a gluten allergy and he just looked at me confused. It became clear through the exchange that he didn’t understand the old gf protocol and I didn’t push it. Not his fault. There was food all over the line, nothing was neat or in its place. Not a safe option all around Didn’t end up ordering anything but chips. Bummer- chipotle was never amazing but their gluten free protocol was. :(

Got a rice bowl with black beans, fajita veggies and guacamole. Tested with my new Nima and came back safe/GF.

Lady changed gloves.

Notes

Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions.

From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."

I've been to many Chipotles around the country. It's hit and miss whether the first employee knows gfree protocol. However, as soon as I mentioned gluten free, the employee wiped counter, washed hands, put on new gloves, got 5 separate clean serving spoons and saw my order thru to the end without passing off to anyone else. Compliments to her and the manager! Given the care they showed, I have more confidence in their avoiding cross contamination behind the scenes. I'll give them more business.

Usually chipotle is my go to for a safe meal But this place was a mess. Food flying everywhere into different buckets. The food handlers hands were in the bowls. My family ate and I decided not to order.

In my opinion when you eat at chipotle everyone’s taking a bit of a gamble. They do a good job at minimizing the risk of cross contamination if you go in and ask for them to change gloves before preparing your bowl.
