We asked for a glove change, but before he changed gloves he ran his hands down the stack of bowls risking cross contamination. Why???? He called over and asked another employee to make our meals because "he was too busy." They both acted very put out to accommodate us. The employee who made our food did a glove change (did not wash hands first) and then stuck her hands in all the food (with gloves on) to serve it.... If everyone is using gloved hands instead of spoons to serve the food the cross contamination risk is really high. Usually I can count on Chipotle for safety, but not the Huntersville location.
The employee today did not understand about cross-contamination. She changed her gloves, but she was moving so fast, she had put cheese and lettuce from the tubs on the line in our bowls and had her gloves off standing at the cash register before I even knew what happened. But we did a sorry job advocating for ourselves, we’re new to this, newly diagnosed only a couple of weeks, we should have made her go back and make us new bowls after explaining to her about cross-contamination in the tubs of cheese and lettuce on the line, new gloves did nothing to protect us from that. About 20 minutes later, we both had a stomachache.
Wouldn’t do anything for us! Even asked for a manager!
No
Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions.
From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."
Great GF practices. Change out gloves, wash hands and get new gloves. Also get cheese and lettuce from containers kept away from gluten items. Staff knowledgable of celiacs and accommodating to our needs.
Unfortunately this food chain is not safe for celiacs . I've seen a fair share of employees scoop rice onto a flour tortilla only to then remove the rice and place it back into the container. This habit contaminates everything as I'm sure they're doing that with the other ingredients as well. You can try asking that they get fresh ingredients from the back, technically they're supposed to have separate containers for allergy reasons, but for some reason usually don't.

Soo.. we wanted something healthy for dinner as we are traveling through.. we got a bowl, the first few people were very friendly, but the last two needed major customer service training! They were not friendly at all, and they didn’t bother to put any utensils in the bag , the damn steak was very spicy and we paid for a guacamole and it’s so flipping tiny , if we would’ve known that we would’ve ordered a small chip! This place needs some improvement.

So I stayed away from this red for a looooong time.
Boy did I miss out!
They change their gloves upon hearing “I have celiac disease/am gluten free”.
Lots of healthy and delicious options.
The chips/wraps/tortilla are NOT GLUTEN FREE.
