We went based on their gluten free options. They had several gluten friendly options, but only two truly gluten free ones. Many things marked gluten free were cross contaminated because they were fried with gluten. I ate the salad with flank steak. It was good. The other GF option was tacos. Luckily our server knew about gluten and steered me the right way so I didn’t get sick. I always appreciate that! The restaurant had a cute, energetic atmosphere. The tables were very close together. Our server was fantastic.
Iconic place but really not that many gf options. Had burger without bun and it was fine. Didn’t get sick but wish there was more for me
What a great spot to get served more than a salad. Also, more than a cider. Great food and a great staff
The staff and manager were very aware of my gluten allergy as I have celiac and have to be extremely careful. I got the gluten free pasta with sauce and cheese and it was delicious!! No reaction. Will go back!
Got steak tips and asked the server if the sauce was gf (it was). They were very helpful and the food was ok.
They have gluten-free bread now! The food is great too.
They went the extra mile to make sure my food was not contaminated and stayed gluten free! Will eat here again if in town.
I went for dinner and waiter talked me into the gf pasta which was only on the lunch menu. He checked with the kitchen who agreed. a half hour later he advised they had run out of gf pasta and asked would I like mash with the sauce! I then asked foe the fish tacos as per a previous review and was told it was not gf. I finally ordered salmon with mash potatoes and steamed spinach. Salmon tasted funny. Hopefully it was ok. Waiter assured me care was taken re cross contamination.
No gluten free menu- but lots of things on the menu are gluten free. The staff is very knowledgeable. I said I had a severe gluten allergy- and the bartender said "Celiac Disease?" He made me feel very safe- and the food was delicious!
No dedicated gluten free menu, but will make some items gluten free.I had mahi mahi tacos with a corn shell. Not bad overall.
Mediocre food. I’m GF and the pasta dish was just ok, not very flavorful. My omnivorous partner found both the trout and the French fries were deep fried in scorched oil, tasted burnt. They were good about giving him a replacement meal. They did have good gf bread and butter, although the presentation was off - it looked like a hot dog bun. We won’t be going back.
More gluten free choices and knowledgeable staff. A lot can be made GF. Dedicated fryer for French fries and gluten free baguette and other GF bread. Had terrific mussels, scallops, steak frites and lobster.
Great service and great atmosphere. GF items clearly marked on the menu. Server asked questions about my requirements and made note of my celiac to notify the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination. Meal was brought out separately. No problems afterwards. Really enjoyed the food.
I ate at this location a few weeks ago and I did not have any negative reactions to the item that I ordered, which was labeled gluten-free on the menu. The server was attentive and made sure to communicate my dietary restrictions to the chef.
Staff knows what to do and I’ve eaten here with confidence. Large selection of gluten-free items, and they can make things to order. That because they have actual cooks vs. food assemblers. Highly recommended!
They take a different approach. Tell them you're GF, they check with the chef for that day's menu, you choose and they make it gluten-free They can make almost any c their proteins GF and have many salads & sides that are GF. Lost one star because like do many places they have very few GF desserts. But what they have is spectacular.
Excellent gluten free meal. Wait staff was extremely knowledgeable about menu, modifications, etc. The chef came out and hand-delivered my meal. The warm gluten free bread & butter was delicious... I had forgotten how much I enjoy the bread before a meal! Overall excellent!
Several years ago, I would have said it was a little dicey eating safely here. But I’ve been very impressed with their care and attention to food allergy and intolerance. I’m glad I gave them another go because my last several meals have been both safe and outstanding.
Their menu changes periodically. They used to have a filet mignon that I was able to get steamed vegetables with. The one thing that really concerned me was that I got conflicting answers on whether their sauces (béarnaise, bordelaise, or chimichurri) have gluten (and dairy) in them. For example, one server would go ask the kitchen and come back and swear that they were safe and a week later, a different server would do the same and tell me they were not safe. I avoided the sauces just because I felt like I couldn’t trust the staff, so I still don’t know whether or not they’re safe. I hate to write this restaurant off because they do have a relatively extensive menu with a variety of GF-labeled options. Just make it very clear to the waiter/waitress that GF is essential; not just a preference.
On our first visit to Clyde’s at Willow Creek, the chef came to our table to ensure we knew our appetizer was not GF. He then offered to make a GF version of the calamari and it was fantastic! The chef discussed options before he went to cook and personally brought my dishes to me. Above and beyond service and the chef has his own fan club now as our entire family was very happy and impressed! I don’t know if that is the standard treatment as it was a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant wasn’t packed.
The staff were amazing! All four of us are Gluten Free, three are celiac. The menu is labeled but they are willing and able to adapt other items as well. They have a dedicated fryer and the fries w their garlic aioli were fabulous. We had the carnitas tacos - so yummy and flavorful. Also a burger on gf bun that was so soft and delicious. The mussels were flavorful and perfect with gf bun to dip in the broth. The steak frites were cooked perfectly too. They also have cider. Perfect lunch for our family after walking miles on college visiting tours. Clyde’s has been around forever (it was a favorite 25 years ago when I was a student in DC) it’s great to see they’ve kept up with the times and are committed to feeding us safely.
I eat a Clydes every 6 weeks with a group. They don't have even one vegan gluten free item. They best they do, is to take and item and remove the offenders leaving the dish, boring and/or not filling or satisfying. I go to meet the group, I would never choose it on my own
I really enjoyed my grilled chicken sandwich. The bartender called the kitchen to make sure they knew about the gluten allergy, even though it was in the notes. Made me feel very comfortable eating there.
Had a good experience even on a really busy night. They don't have a gluten free menu but the waitress asked the chef what they can make GF. I had the cod (baked) and the market salad. Very good! Didn't get sick.
Had good options for entrees. Went for a birthday dinner and didn't have any gluten free dessert. They seemed to think that there was wheat in haagen dazs vanilla ice cream but were not sure. They were not very knowledgeable.
The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, but I don't think the food is that great. There are better options in the area for the price. HOWEVER, if you're out for a group event they do a great job and you'll be safe.
The staff understood the allergy concept but did not understand how cross contamination and cleanliness factored into the service process. I would not return.
I have not had the experience of the other reviewers. The few times I have been, the servers were not particularly helpful and I was not made aware that any menu item could be gf. We have stopped going to Clydes due to the lack of gf menu item options. Maybe one day we will try it again.
They were able to adjust their menu for us but the salad had croutons and I had to send it back. The second one was fine. The kids burgers were without buns but they also for got cheese and bacon. They went back and then the ice cream came with a cookie and that went back. Our waitress tried but the kitchen staff was obviously on auto pilot. We were ok and the food was good but it took so long to eat that we left hungry. It's safe to eat there if you are vigilant but it really was hard to enjoy since I could not let my guard down for a second. This was a Tuesday night at 8, should have been a no brainier.
Great place for Celiacs!!! From the hostess to the server & the kitchen staff - everyone was very knowledgable about GF options. Did not have a specific GF menu, but did not matter. It was GREAT!!!! Highly recommend!
They worked to give me something delicious and gluten free. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.
No dedicated GF menu, but staff n kitchen trained for GF. Can alter many menu items to be GF. Can get GF french fries here made in separate fryer. Eat here couple times a month.
I've had the salmon salad and the steak salad. Both were very good. I have Celiac and have had no problems. Waitstaff and management were knowledgeable and double checked with the kitchen on my meals. Very good experiences
As a place for GF dining, Clyde's should earn more than three stars. My server and waitress were trained perfectly, asked me all the right questions and answered mine with all the right answers. Salad and ice cream dessert were lovely, and house wine was a good value, and you can't beat the view or ambiance. I just wish their somewhat pricey main courses tasted better. This was an issue for everyone at my table, not just my GF self.
They do not have a gluten free menu nor do they have any gluten free suggestions from the staff. I spoke to management there and they stated they will message this app to have them taken out of the GF listing.
ate here 3 times since going GF and first 2 times were fine. The last time I ordered from the gluten free menu, and made them aware of my allergy. I got sick that night and couldn't get out of bed for a few days. It's a shame because their food is pretty good. I believe it's one of the side dishes that made me sick
