We have eaten at Cooper's Hawk quite a few times with three strictly gluten-free people. I love this restaurant and the food, but it's not totally safe. Once our party was served regular bread despite gf menus (which we sent back), once my dad was served a regular meal. That was OK because he's gf to support the rest of us. On this last visit they gave me regular pasta, despite requesting gf menus and detailing very carefully to the waiter who was gf and who wasn't at our table. I was tired and didn't question my meal when it arrived. The manager did come to tell me what happened, and apologized and comped my meal, but I ended up sick on my vacation. So, by all means eat here, but be very cautious and double-check what is delivered to the table.
Four stars ONLY because I think they glutened me with blue cheese stuffed olives in my martini. This place is amazing and claims to have separate prep areas so rating it celiac friendly based on 1) knowledge of servers 2) separate GF menu and 3) reported separate prep space.
I hate writing this review because this used to be my go to gluten free restaurant. I ordered gluten free pasta and before I left I looked at the box and it had a GF written on box so I didn't bother looking inside before I drove the 45 minutes home. Once I got home I realized that they gave me regular pasta BUT wrote GF on it anyways. So so disappointing! This is the 3rd time this has happened to me recently and I can no longer trust them. How could you write GF on a box that is full of gluten food!
Great menu and had high hopes after reading reviews. Enjoyed a wonderful lunch of chicken piccata. Unfortunately I got glutened. Not sure what happened. Manager delivered food as per protocol I read in another review.
They do GF right! from the wine to the gf bread before dinner to the several gf dining options...I'm celiac and had no reaction. Thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting too!
Cooper's Hawk is one of the best restaurants I've been to wrt taking GF food prep very seriously. They have a great GF menu, it's creative, not an afterthought. I have eaten here many times and never gotten sick. I think I need to eat there tonight!
Excellent food, gluten free menu, friendly staff, not to mention the wine!
Full gf menu including appetizers and desserts. Very good! Knowledgable staff.
Excellent gluten free menu and atmosphere. They bring out GF bread before the meal and had many options to choose from including dessert. Definitely recommend!
The staff was very knowledgable and the food excellent. There was even a gluten free brownie for dessert! The only thing that could be improved is that there were not many vegetarian options, which is too bad, as I am a vegetarian with celiac disease. However, not having to worry about the safety of my food is of higher priority to me than having a huge selection of foods without meat.
Food was amazing! GF menu had lots of options. Biggest GF menu we have come across. Normally my husband has to watch us eat the pre-dinner bread due to his gluten sensitivity we loved that he received his on gluten free loaf that was delicious and hot out of the oven. Will definitely be back.
Amazing food!! The menu has lots of options and the staff is very knowledgable and very willing to cater to questions and needs. We was shocked when a pre dinner bread roll came out...We haven't had that option in so long and the ability to dip bread in the sauces that's in the dish OH MAN so good! Will definitely be back!! Oh and desert options too!!
Love the menu, it's got a lot of choices. It's really nice to order a burger on a gf bun.
Great food and Gf menu. Knowledgeable staff. GF rolls for sandwiches. Nice wines too. First burger I've had out with a safe roll in years! Have been here twice and very happy each visit. A new favorite!
Had a wonderful experience here! I asked for a gf menu, but didn't remind my server of tasty when I ordered. I mentioned that to the food runner when my meal came out. Apparently only managers are allowed to bring out gf dishes. The manager swooped in took my plate, apologized profusely for the mistake, and comped the tables drinks and my entree. My food wad remade and was excellent. I should have been more careful and reminded the waiter, but fortunately for me they have a well trainef staff!
Excellent, enormous gluten free menu.
Cooper's Hawk is the best gluten-free option out there! Staff is completely knowledgebale and trained regarding gluten-free options and the food is DELICIOUS! They even serve gluten free bread. I would highly recommend the Drunken Mexican Shrimp appetizer, Tenderloin Sandwich, and Mediterranean salad. The side house salad is great, too. The wine menu has wide array of gluten-free drinks–all of which can be sampled. LOVE this restaurant!
By far the largest gluten free menu that I have seen in a restaurant. wait staff has to fill out an allergen card for every meal. wonderful experience!
Love this place! Excellent gluten free menu with drinks included (an often overlooked item) and great atmosphere. The staff is knowledgeable about allergens. I have never had a bad experience here. This has become our special occasion restaurant!
The manager came over and told me how safe the kitchen and food were for celiacs. They had a fantastic GF menu. I was so excited to eat out. Fast forward that night and I was so sick. It was not a minor episode from a little cc. It was full blown. I will never trust them again.
Love that they give you endless GF bread at the table LIKE NORMAL GLUTINOUS PEOPLE. But don't fill up, because the real food is amazing. Bacon wrapped "drunken" shrimp, lettuce wraps (big as a meal but priced as an app), short rib risotto and burgers are all worth writing home about. You can also get wine samples at the table, free of charge.
I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease & this was my first restaurant experience since being diagnosed. I could not have had a better experience. My wife mentioned that I had celiac when she made the reservation & when we arrived at the table the gluten free menu was waiting for me. There is a VERY wide variety of appetizers & entrees so I felt like I had a ton of choices. There was a breaded & fried calamari appetizer that they were more than happy to prepare non-breaded & sautéed rather than fried. Overall the food & wine was wonderful as was the ambience. They also have gluten free bread! I will be returning to this place often!
Unfortunately none of the wines are gluten free. They use wheat filters on all of their wines. When I spoke with the head quarters about how deceptive the gluten free menu is because it reads as if all of the wines are gluten free, they were unapologetic. Beware
The food here is really good although portions are small and expensive. We waited 30 minutes for an appetizer of hummus and vegetables. Dinner, came after an hour. The salmon was the $33 and the size of a hot dog. If you have lots of time and money this is a good place because the food is good, but otherwise skip it. I am going to try to include pictures of tiny desserts.
Avoid Cooper's Hawk if you have celiac disease. I ordered the gluten feee lettuce wraps, and unknowingly, I was served a plate that was a mix of gf and gluten full. I ate two lettuce wraps and was horribly sick. Don't risk it. They tout themselves as safely gluten free, but they make horrible mistakes.
They have an extensive gluten free menu so at least they try. However they had two items on their gf menu that the server had to come back and tell us were actually not gf. We ordered the hummus and pita plate because we were excited to have gf pita. They brought out the platter and said "we don't actually have gf pita so we bring a gf roll instead". We wouldn't have ordered it if we knew that. They have a few gf pasta dishes so we were happy about that. But none of them were vegetarian. We ordered one without the shrimp and meat but they charged us full price anyway. They bring you a gf roll to the table which was nice. Not the best tasting but always a treat to get gf bread. They told us they keep things separate in the kitchen. I am hoping they do. However my celiac son was feeling very sick after we ate here. The food wasn't that good, it was very pricey and we are not sure if he was glutened. So for these reasons we will not be returning.
Coppers hawk has amazing wine! the menu is pretty large. They brought me a #glutenfree roll before dinner. the reason for below 5 stars is that one of the meals "parmesan crusted chicken " includes Diana's potatoes. this is a premade potato pancake basically that had bread crumbs. If I had not asked what they were they would have served to me. ask for Mary's potatoes. They are gluten free. otherwise no complaints!
Gluten free review: Although they have a gluten free menu and I'm very clear with my server that this is a serious allergy, not a choice, I get sick here. Every time. We finally cancelled our wine membership, when I realized I was still getting sick drinking their wine at home. When asked why we we're cancelling, I told them about my gluten issue. I was then told that NONE of their WINE is gluten free, as they use wheat in the filtering process. Really??? And no where on the gluten free menu is that mentioned. This is such a fun place and I love wine tasting, but this is not acceptable. It's totally deceptive and dangerous. I lose days when I am exposed to gluten. I wonder if the managers and staff even know this.
This location just opened...got sick again. My fault for returning to one of these restaurants. NOT celiac friendly; server forgot to even take one of our parties orders; slow; too busy and got very sick within an hour of eating here. DONT CHANCE WITH CELIAC.
They have an extensive GF menu but no systems in place to take any particular care of customers with celiac. I was brought regular food and told, "Everything on that plate is gluten safe." Luckily there were other burgers at our table and I could tell my roll was not GF, but I don't trust this restaurant & do not recommend. They need to review their processes.
We went here last night to celebrate my daughters birthday (both her and I celiac). They assured us that every safety precaution was used to avoid cross contamination. We had the chicken lettuce wraps, delicious. We both ordered the Parmesan crusted chicken and were enjoying it until i found a large piece of pasta under my green beans. My worst nightmare. We notified the server, who notified the manager, who notified the chef. All were very apologetic and seemed to understand the gravity of the situation. The manager comped our meal and we left. Of course I was gluttened terribly and my daughter was also even without the pasta on her plate. Needless to say, we won't be going back here anytime soon. Kudos to Mike the manager for understanding how serious this situation was.
The waitress knew I have celiac disease and carried regular bread and my glass of water in the same hand with the glass touching the bread. Then proceeded to try to put the bread down right in front of me. We made her take the bread and water away and explained why. My husband asked her if she had been trained on how to handle gluten-free meals. She said no. We explained what happened to the front of the house manager who assured us that he would personally take care of things and that our gluten-free meals would be served by a manager. I decided to stay because of his assurances that all would be safe and it was my husband's birthday. The food was NOT brought to our table by a manager and they sent a different server every time. The food was NOT safe and now I am sick as a dog! I will NEVER go there again.
Excellent food. Extensive GF menu. Delicious appetizers (Mexican shrimp, Thai spring rolls, salads). Tasty mains (ahi tuna, risotto to die for, great burgers). Amazing GF bread. They are very knowledgeable about cross contamination. Number or great desserts to choose from. Highly recommended.
Joined wine club since they offer GF. Never had problem here. Love the GF bread they bring me while the rest of my family enjoy the regular pretzel bread. I always get the GF short rib risotto. I'm tempted by the other options, but I can't seem to say no to risotto. Has mushrooms which I typically don't eat anywhere else, but I usually eat about half of them & the rest of my bowl is empty. So filling. You must order the GF s'mores budino. It's heavenly.
I really am only giving one star but the system bumps it to two. The waitress/chef messed up my order and the manager tried to put the blame on me. Then instead of correcting the issue the right way I was served undercooked filet mignon and raw asparagus.
I like the food and wish I could eat there but even with the gluten free menu I get "glutened" :(
