The person preparing my food changed gloves immediately when I told her I needed to order gluten free. The enchiladas were delicious and I had no reaction. I spoke to the manager as I was leaving and complimented him on training his staff regarding gluten free protocol.

The guy was SO helpful with my questions. He changed his gloves as soon as I said I have celiac. Awesome service!

From their allergen list: We have worked diligently to remove wheat gluten from all our sauces, dressings, and proteins. Natural glutens remain only in our flour and wheat tortillas and in two desserts--tres leches and key lime pie. This means that we offer "oceans of gluten-free options" in our menu. All of these items are gluten-free: all enchiladas, all tacos, all salads (without the flour or wheat tortilla), all nachos, and our chicken tortilla so up...which uses corn strips.
All of the sauces are gluten free and they have gluten free corn tortillas. You have to specify that you need a gluten free meal, but they are good to wash their hands and change their gloves for you.
I used to never eat Costa Vida ever anywhere because it seemed like all of them made me sick anywhere every time. I don't know if they changed protocols to anything but for the past year or so all locations have done well. I haven't gotten sick and they all taste fantastic. I am not a big fan of the gf tortillas but that is just me. I usually get the salad with no tortillas at all and ask for extra chips/strips. Occasionally I'll eat the nachos as they are gf on their own. So for any of those who were like me and stayed very clear of them I would say give it a shot you may be able to add another eating out option to your small sad list π π
Yes
They change gloves all the way down the line every time I order. They do their best to make sure it’s gluten free. Great salads and quesadillas.
Yes
My go to place! Not this particular location, but they are all over. Everyone is well trained and they always are quick to change gloves and not CC. They are o e of the few places I can go that don't act put out about GF.
Placed an online order and specified that I needed gluten free. Picked up my food and left only to find that they had made my food with a wheat tortilla. My receipt shows that the tortilla should be gf and it is noted as allergy. I'm not impressed!
No
They were knowledgable about GF and changed their gloves before preparing my meal. However, they are a little disorganized and were messing up a few meals... So be careful in that regards.
Very knowledgeable about GF.
Great food and they even change their gloves to make your GF meal. :)
They have a cross continuation issue as they use the same press for the tortillas and on the line they switch the serving spoons but the fact beans, and meats etc still have issues since the other spoon had touch the flour tortillas the and been put back in the food. Everyone I tried eating here I got sick and now I pass on going there. Their corporate office is more interested in justifying then learning why they are not gluten free for those celiac who are sensitive. Eat at your own risk.
Yum but DO NOT GET THE CHIPS because of cross contamination they don't switch gloves when they get the chips but other than that, great
This location needs more training about cross contamination. Yes, she changed her gloves when I asked for a gluten free meal, but then she came back to the line and put her gloved hand down on the flour tortillas!

My husband and I will drive the extra few minutes to specifically cone to this location over another one slightly closer to our home. The staff here are kind and professional and the level of service has never been lacking. The food is delicious and we've never gotten sick or had a bad experience here.
For those with Celiac or who are highly sensitive to gluten, I do not recommend the corn tortillas as, while they do not contain any gluten themselves, they are cooked on the same surface as the wheat-flour tortillas. I personally always opt for the baja bowl and haven't had any issues at this location.
On Costa Vida's website, their Nutrition Calculator page also has an allergen filter (and an itemized Allergen Info section below it) that can filter for the following allergens and dietary preferences:
· Dairy
· Eggs
· Gluten
· Nuts
· Preservatives
· Soy
· Sugar
· Vegan
· Vegetarian
Additionally, they note that their "hot items are prepared with low sodium".

Told them I had an allergy to gluten, they washed hands and changed gloves. They did a good job. The only issue I had is when they were refilling the lettuce on the line, they used their potentially contaminated gloves to do so…

I saw that they had good ratings and wanted to try a new place for dinner last night. It was a decision I regretted. When I asked about gluten free options the staff somewhat knew what was gluten free, but then would second guess their answers. The food was not good at all. I got the chicken tacos with the corn tortilla and extra side of rice. The chicken was dry and burnt. The rice was cold and didn’t taste good. Lastly, the corn tortilla was semi okay. The only good thing was the key lime pie. That tasted more like a cheesecake than key lime. After eating the food I felt sick and threw up. I do not recommend this place even though you see good reviews.
