I ate here with a group of friends for a late brunch (around noon) and chose it based on the reviews here (thank you!).

I asked for a GF menu and the person at the register said they didn’t have one because they could make anything on the menu gluten free. I asked whether the GF and non-GF food was prepared in the same area and the register person didn’t know but asked someone else who did. They said they have separate preparation areas on opposite sides of the kitchen!

I got a surf side breakfast burrito with regular eggs (rather than egg whites only). I brought my dairy pills and did have the cheddar cheese in it. It was really yummy. I had herbal tea with it. Of note: most all of the menu items contained cheese. There were some that were dairy free, and I’m sure they’d happily leave cheese out, but if you’re looking for a ton of dairy free or vegan options, I’d look elsewhere. Maybe check out the online menu before you go.

My friends got a range of things: breakfast sandwiches, a smoothie bowl, pancakes with whipped cream and strawberries, and my GF sugar-free friend got a Mediterranean bowl (loaded salad with GF grains, feta, olives, and some added chicken). Some friends got: a matcha drink, chocolate shake with whipped cream, and a cold brew espresso drink. I think they all liked them.

My sugar-free (pre-diabetic) friend had asked the staff about whether the Bourbon steak tips had sugar in them and he (we think was the manager?) said that they had tons of brown sugar in them and if he had Diabetes he definitely wouldn’t eat them. She appreciated his openness and clarity, versus other places she’s been where they’ll try to downplay the amount of sugar in order to get you to eat it.

We ate outside on the patio at a table with an umbrella. Even though it only had four seats, it fit 5 people comfortably. Two could sit on a side. There’s an ice cream shop in the other half of the bldg and we contemplated ice cream (dairy free and no sugar added options were on the menu btw), but didn’t get any.

The seating inside wasn’t very plentiful, I think there were maybe two seats open when we arrived. If you come with a group, especially if it’s busier, I’d expect to eat outside.

The restaurant has no recycling (even when I asked at the register they said they didn’t have any). Adding recycling (for lids, cup sleeves, etc) and compost (for napkins, tea bags, and food scraps) are improvements I hope they consider making!

It does have two unisex single stall bathrooms, by the way, in case that’s helpful to know

FYI There’s a “Let’s Go Brandon” store on the other side of the road in case you happen to be going out to eat with someone and don’t want a political environment. :) There is also a (more discreet than the LGB store) adult store on the other side of the road in the plaza behind the gas station, in case that matters either way to someone :).
