I'm torn on what to write so I'll state the facts. I got a snack pack with a gluten free bun and was asked, "allergy or preference" and informed them allergy. I got the slaw as a side and then asked if I could get an unassembled concrete mixer (ice cream in a cup and Reese cups either on top or in a separate cup) so that they wouldn't have to clean the mixer out to make it safe for me. I was pleasantly surprised to have the server tell me that they, in fact, have an allergen mixer. So, everything on the screen was marked gluten free *allergy* and I was excited about having a drive through GF option. On the way home, I took a couple bites of my concrete mixer and on the 3rd bite, the texture was different and chewy. I spit the bite out and it was a brownie piece. I was so disappointed as I knew what would be soon to come for me, hives ans lesions on my face and neck and 2 days worth of mood swings, anxiety, and all the other psychological symptoms I get hit with. When I called a few days later, I spoke with a manager who is sending me some coupons to make up for it. While I appreciate the gesture, and I also understand that they can't completely eliminate the risk (brownies are brown, peanut butter cups are brown), I felt let down because I had been reassured about the mixer and also because I didn't listen to my instincts to have the toppings separate to be able to check myself. TL;DR: I got glutened, but I may try again and just get my ice cream plain and add toppings at home.
