When to Deanie's for dinner upon arriving in New Orleans because it was recommended by the staff at our timeshare. I was skeptical because we had called ahead to make sure they had gluten free options and the person who answered the phone only said that any fried fish could be broiled instead. However, we were tired and hungry so we went. The waitress we had was very helpful and kept running back to the kitchen to talk to the chef. He informed us that all the fried foods were gluten free or he could broil anything for me. I decided to be adventurous and order the fried shrimp since I hadn't had it since I found out I had a gluten sensitivity. It was absolutely delicious. Also, we started with an appetizer of Nachos, made with Kettle potatoes chips rather than Nachos covered in crab meat and a melted blend of 5 cheeses. That was to die for!...and it was gluten free! I had no bad reaction to anything I ate. The restaurant is not fancy, kind of a 1950 diner type, but everything was very good. If you are concerned, have the blackened red fish. It, too was delicious. We tried to go back on Friday night, but there was an hour and a half wait to get it.
