We went to Delta Blues last night for my brother's birthday party. Since I'm the only Celiac of the family, I chose the location and didn't even think about the fact that we were bringing in a glutenous cake for him. 🤦🏽♀️ My brother is severely autistic, and Bubba was so gracious working with us in keeping the location safe for people like me but making my brother happy when he didn't understand why we couldn't bring the cake in. (He supplied us plates and a separate trash can so we could eat it outside.) Not to mention, everyone loved the food and couldn't believe you could have such a wonderful meal without gluten. ;) But seriously, the food is wonderful, the service was great, even with our large (and loud) party, and we always make a point to stop here every time we're in Birmingham.
Really good food and it’s all gluten free. The only thing they have that isn’t gluten free is beer, but they aren’t allowed to bring that into certain areas where food is prepared.
Loved it. Got the fried pickles and tómales. Would recommend! Also a decent selection of GF beer and cider. My parents raved about their food and can’t wait to go back!
Stopped on the way through town and it was amazing! Everything is gluten free. Tamales were amazing. Chicken fingers were great for kids and adults with the come back sauce. Vegan options available. Highly recommend trying this place if your close by. Staff was so friendly and helpful.
100% gluten free menu! They can also accommodate other food allergies as well as vegan and dairy free diets. Large menu selection.
This is one of two dedicated gluten free eat in restaurants in Birmingham (so far!). We always feel safe taking our toddler here to eat. And we don’t feel bad if it’s rush because we don’t have to make special requests of the chef or staff. Everything is safe! Food is good too!
Incredible food! I ordered fried pickles, fried chicken, cobbler and beer- ALL gf! Come here come here come!!
fried pickles were amazing. whole menu is gluten free. They even sell their batter mix. It is a go to spot for us when we come back to Birmingham!
Very, very good! It’s such a treat to be in a restaurant that it all gluten free and you don’t have to modify your order or decide whether or not you feel confident enough to eat there! Everything was delicious and the blues music was just a special topper!
Always a pleasure to eat here. You can’t go wrong with whatever you order! Best GF fried chicken anywhere! The cobbler is devine! All alcohol is gluten free as well!
I adore this place!!!!! Love the food
Great Place! We had the Turkey tamales! 😍
One of the owners has celiac. I was able to have fried catfish for the first time since my diagnosis! My friend had the tamale pie. Both were delicious! It is so nice knowing the eatery is safe. Even in the door and the menu, they require no outside food being brought in to cut down on cross contamination
💜Best Gf RESTAURANT Ever !! Peach cobbler ...OMG. Have I died and gone to heaven ?!
The format and food of this place are both life changing. Best place we have found in Birmingham bar none... that was a pun, they have a bar that's open all day!
I have Celiac's and am extremely sensitive, but had amazing experiences here! The entire menu is gluten free and everything so far has been delicious. I will definitely be visiting this restaurant as much as possible.
Everything was gluten free. Very friendly and they do not allow foreign food into the business, so I'm not afraid to put my hands on the table. Regular beer was on the menu for non celiacs, but they had celiac friendly drinks available.
Celiac owner An the food is awesome
Amazing food and it was very easy to order as the whole menu could be made gluten free. The staff was also very familiar with celiac disease.
Southern Fried food...AMAZING! Tamales were good. My daughter said, "I feel like a normal person. I can order anything I want!" And Cobbler and Chocolate Cake for dessert. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Simple review: Holy Crap that was good!!
Love this place! Great food!
Oh. my. gosh. I can't say enough about this amazing place! When I come 'home' to visit Alabama, I am usually resigned to not getting to eat good southern food. But at Delta Blues, I ate the best gluten free fried chicken and fried pickles I have ever had! I felt 'normal' for a bit, getting to order off of the regular menu and not worrying about CC. I also love the decor, and the owners are amazing too. Thank you Delta Blues for an amazing southern meal!!
This is my favorite restaurant in bham. Their whole menu is gf. They always have fun gf beers and ciders on tap. Including a seasonal gf beer from trim tab brewery! Absolutely favorite. I bring all my friends and family here when they visit. I have celiac but by bf and friends don't. They love it just the same. Everyone that works there is amazing. They even sell their gf flour so you can make their creations at home. (I'd rather buy it there and enjoy the environment)
Delta Blues is amazing. I can eat things I haven't been able to eat in years (unless I made it myself at home). Even cobbler!
Holy moly! Amazing! 6 stars. I'm not GF, but my girlfriend is. This menu pleased us both and the entirety of it was safe for her to eat. even have a selection of eight different GF beers. Chill atmosphere, great music, I'll come back everytime I'm anywhere near Birmingham.
this place is dedicated GF restaurant. The tamales are made with blue corn flour and they come with dipping sauce. They are not bad, but they are different. They have other menu options. such as chicken fingers. I was informed by the waitress that the owner has Celiac and Hashimotos.
Absolutely amazing! Everything on the menu is GF which is so rare to find. Fried pickles? Yes please! I haven’t eaten those in years. My fiancé and I both ordered the chicken fingers which were HUGE! The staff is so knowledgeable and accommodating to food allergies. They also sell their GF flour so I can make my own fried goodness at home. If there was one small suggestion I could add, it would be to offer more sides. I wasn’t really impressed with the baked beans or slaw and cucumber salad doesn’t really go with fried food. Perhaps some French fries or homemade potato chips would be a great addition. I will definitely return to Delta Blues when I visit Birmingham. Highly recommend!
Very nice family restaurant. The owner and staff are extremely nice. Not much to choose from in the menu but everything, including the sauce, is made from scratch. We will be going there again!
Yes, completely gluten free!! Fried pickles, ettufe, red beans and rice, tamales and more. Service was great, too.
Love this place. Chicken fingers, fried pickles, fried catfish & cucumber salad were all awesome.
Try the fried pickles, they were delicious!
Awesome!! We had the Smothered Chicken Fingers (queso sauce with turnip greens and green onions). Everything on the menu except some of the beer is Celiac friendly. Great outdoor courtyard a couple blocks from Five Points.
Such an awesome place! I got GF chicken tenders and fried pickles. Everything except for a few beers is GF. Everything is made from scratch except one of the pie's and ice cream. They cater to you so well if you have any additional allergies too. Almost everything is also dairy and egg free and soy free!! Tastes amazing, my mom is not GF and she loved it. Met other Celiacs there too. Highly recommend!
Absolutely delicious and no risk of gluten contamination
I have never written a review on this website before but this place is an absolute rarity. Amazingly good food whether you have celiac's or not. It's all gluten free and I mean all of it. Tamales, chicken tenders, fried pickles and the best thing on the menu, fried jalapeño slices with queso. You can't find delta food this good many places, and definitely not in a dedicated GF environment. Great patio ambiance too. Frankly this is the most satisfying meal I've eaten since being diagnosed with Celiacs. I felt like a normal person again who could order whatever I wanted and know that I'm getting the fully leaded, delicious version. I'm glowing a bit, but seriously. Eating here will change your perception about "gluten free" food. Yes there's no gluten in it, but at the end of the day It's just food and it's delicious.
Delicious food. Entire menu is gluten free and dairy free and soy free. (One dessert has soy and of course the beer is not gluten free). I loved the hummus, the pork slider taco, and the tamales. Most of their food is spicy, so keep that in mind. I can't wait to go back!
I have eaten here several times and the food is amazing. All gluten free and celiac friendly!!
Delicious and filling. Kids loved the chicken fingers and sweet potato mash. the tamale pie was a bit spicy but they did enjoy the Bbq tamale plate. our waitress Kim was awesome and well informed on gluten.
Fantastic! All my non GF friends loved it too. What a gem!
Great wings. Tamales were great for my wife. Spicy but really good. More meat than filler. Server was fantastic and took the time to explain everything. Outside patio is very nice and shaded. Whether you are gluten free or not food is fantastic. Nice to be able to relax and not worry about gluten.
Great place!!! I had the wings and they were so good.
Took my son who has celiac disease to this gem of a restaurant today. He was so appreciative of being able to enjoy a meal knowing that the entire menu was dedicated gluten free. I thought it was interesting that it doesn't advertise as such because the menu choices and food quality proves that it can be gluten free and delicious for all, not just for those with a gluten intolerance. The outside patio was a perfect setting for a relaxing meal. The servers were friendly and prompt with all food and beverage needs. We shared the fried pickles app and they were crisp and well seasoned. He enjoyed the queso dip more than I did. I highly recommend the Tamale Pie topped with Homemade Chili, Cheddar Cheese, Sour Cream, Jalapenos, and Green Onions. He cleaned the plate for his entree choice of red beans and rice with andouille sausage. We will definitely be back for more!
Great food, atmosphere, and servers very friendly and knowledgeable of celiac. The owner has celiac. All food is gluten free so no chance of cross contamination.😊😊
Best little gluten free place in the Birmingham area!! It's completely gluten free!!! Everything!!! I mean everything!!! Chicken fingers, fried pickles, tamales, chili, desserts, beer..etc!!! Great atmosphere and extremely nice people! Kim our waitress was a total sweetheart! I even met and talked to the owner and she is a doll! She is so excited to be here in Birmingham and helping the GF community with her restaurant! Once you go you will be hooked!! Best food in the city!!!!
So excited to find a Dedicated Gluten Free business with AMAZING food. I almost cried when I saw I could have fried pickles (which are fantastic). The tamales are delicious. I had the Mississippi melt and my husband had the tamale pie. We shared each one and couldn't decided which we liked best they were both so good. We were so full but had to try the desserts and continued to be delighted. Having such a wonderful meal and knowing I don't have to worry about getting sick afterwards because of gluten made my day. We will be back very soon.
Amazing food! Completely gluten free and great staff!!!
Great restaurant! First time dining here and reassured by both waitress and owner that there is not any gluten containing products in the entire restaurant. Able to order anything on menu!! Fantastic outdoor seating area on a less busy street. I have a very sensitive allergy and did not have any symptoms afterward!! First and only of its kind in Birmingham-- if you have a true allergy, you can dine here without trouble. Food is delicious, including berry cobbler for dessert. Cannot recommend highly enough!
This place is delicious. Their is no gluten in the place. They even have gluten free beer. Today they had homemade blackberry cobbler. No worries here.
All gluten free restaurant! Very good food to boot. I had the buffalo chicken wings and my husband had the red beans and rice and a cat fish taco. Highly recommended.
