Good food and experience. Daughter had chicken wings. Quite a few other options. The gluten eaters ate good too.
Yes. Just YES! Gf celiac safe.
Separate Gluten free menu with a lot of options. I had the chicken wings and rice and beans. Very good.
Decent selection. Pulled pork was spectacular. No buns or cornbread though.
Great food! Probably the best BBQ I have ever had. Super busy on Saturday so go early. They have a great gluten free menu with tons of options.
Had takeout part of a large work function. Enjoyed the Pulled BBQ Pork along with Tomato and Cucumber salad both delicious and no issues with any cross contamination.
eat in I had no issues. had issues on one takeout order.
SO GOOD! Most of the meats and sides are gluten free, waitress was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Everyone was so nice and food was delicious. Had wings and plater of brisket, ribs and pulled pork with mashed potatoes and baked beans. All delicious and my non celiac family had sandwiches they loved. Could not recommend more. Great atmosphere, great food!
Great food and fun atmosphere.
Wow. Amazing gluten free options. Knowledgeable wait staff. Delicious!
Very impressed! Sauce is GF, soy-free. Fries are so popular they have their own frier; peanut-free. My waiter was easy to talk to and wasn't caught off guard by my allergies and Celiac Disease. He came back with an allergy chart and walked me through my order. Said the back changes gloves and food comes on a red plate. Manager served me to make sure it was okay.
I'm gluten and soy free. They have a dedicated allergen menu but it didn't contain soy. We emailed and they added that column to it. Great experience and food was wonderful!
best BBQ I've ever had. Edited-March 20 2016- they no longer have a dedicated gluten free fryer.
Thought I would get sick just by the look of the place (I'm very sensitive). Ended up being great food and I felt great after. Couldn't ask for anything more!
they had two sided gf menu :) And the first place I've ever been too that brought my food out separately knowing I had an "allergy". Also didn't have to explain my Celiac's at all, just said gluten free and they understood
So delicious and had a lot of options. Manager brought out my gf plate and I felt great the rest of the even.
Excellent GF food with a 2 sided menu of choices.
Awesome food, great atmosphere.
I had the BBS today. While it tasted great I was only about 1/2 way thru my meal before it made me ill. This is a disappointment.
They are awesome. They have a wonderful gluten free menu and the gluten free food comes out on deprecate plates. I definitely recommend the pulled pork!
Great BBQ and the Syracuse location is the best. I'm glad my daughter is going to SU...
Great food and so gluten free friendly! Fun atmosphere. My whole family was happy and we will go back! I never had such great bbq😀
French fries! BBQ! It's a local treasure, and totally GF friendly. Love it! Never had a bad meal there. Wait staff all know their stuff too. Another restaurant with a celiac employee, and that always makes me feel more comfortable.
Don't be turned off by appearances. It is loud, our kids were a bit unnerved by the seediness of the location and bar atmosphere, but all agreed it was the juiciest BBQ we ever had. Great gf French fries and awesome cole slaw, served by a somewhat surly beer wench who was nonetheless well trained in what gf means. Owner Dino presiding over all from a stool near the bar was another touch of character! We will be back!!
Waiter was really helpful. I split an entree with my partner who does eat gluten and the waiter made sure that the sides that my partner got with out meal were separate from our sharing food. The food is amazing and there are so many options to choose from on their gluten free menu.
The staff is all trained in Glutenology, they ALL know the menu inside and out, all sauces (except the Jerk sauce I believe?) are GF and so are the FRENCH FRIES!!!!! Dedicated frier! We love the Dino.
Separate GF menu. The wait staff assured me that they were knowledgeable about cross contamination and that I could have a completely GF meal. I had 1/4 slab of ribs with coleslaw and bbq baked beans. It was brought out separate from my husband’s regular meal by the manager. It was delicious and I didn’t get sick.
Great place to get a bbq meal! The gf menu is a bit weak though. It’s pretty much just their regular menu except half of it is missing because you can’t eat it. They have a section called “bunless sandwiches” which kind of felt like a rip off. It would have been great to have a gf roll or Cornbread or something. Overall I had a great meal, but I think they could do more with the options.
Perhaps the best St Louis ribs I've ever had, plus yummy pulled pork and great wings. The chili was phenomenal and my husband's said the mashed potatoes were the best he's ever had. Full gluten free menu, no gluten free buns but your definitely here for the meat. They also had red bridge and angry orchard. Staff was well versed in gluten free options and service. Good was carried out separately to prevent cross contamination. Awesome.
UPDATE: I went here again and after discussing my situation as a celiac with the server and asking about cross contamination etc, I was nevertheless served a plate with corn bread (that's made with wheat flour) on it. I was super polite but asked them to please take it back and make a new one -- not to just remove the bread and re-serve, because that would make me sick. Unfortunately that's exactly what happened. I trusted that the server was taking care of me (he seemed super earnest), so was half-way through eating my meal before I saw the cornbread crumbs still stuck on my plate. Of course I got super sick for the next week and it was totally avoidable. I feel like it's possible the server intentionally decided that he just didn't give a f*** about my health and safety and would re-serve because I "wouldn't notice". Super upsetting because the owner is cool and seems to care -- but at busy periods like before a Devil's game, the staff either isn't trained safely or just doesn't give a s***. I won't go back after that -- not worth rolling the dice. :( ORIGINAL REVIEW: These folks really took care of me. I mentioned I was celiac and asked if the staff changes their gloves etc. They have a separate area where GF food is prepared and they take it really seriously. Later the manager came out and mentioned his daughter is gluten free and they follow cross contamination procedures in their house to keep her safe. I will definitely be back and really appreciated these folks. Plus the brisket is delicious. ;)
Despite some recent negative reviews, I gave Dino a shot. I went for lunch while it wasn't busy and sat at the bar. The bartender seemed knowledgeable; she knew to ask if I wanted a cider, not a beer. My food came on a different colored plate and the server paid close attention to what they were doing. I felt comfortable.
I placed a takeout order over the phone and told them I was ordering from the gluten free menu and that my daughter had celiac disease. When we brought the food home we saw they put cornbread on top of my daughter's entree. We called the restaurant and they told us the cornbread wasn't gluten free. Won't be going back.
I️ visited last night. All sauces and rubs are gluten free. No “hidden” gluten in anything. So basically the only way to be contaminated is if you you get something breaded. Or battered. Fries are gf. They have the most amazing potato salad and brisket.
This is the type of place that has good intentions, but poor execution. I told the waitress I was gluten free, but when my plate came there was a big piece of cornbread on it. We've also ordered takeout and gotten mixed reviews on which items were and were not gluten free. If you are looking for great BBQ, Try PJ's in Saratoga. They are great.
Great selection and knowledgeable staff. When my plate first came out, it had a piece of cornbread on it. However, I think they set some kind of record because they served the correct plate within the minute. I wish I had a stopwatch, it was fast. They comped my drink after the mistake and I was dining with 8 other people, so I can forgive them.
The wife has celiac's and was able to enjoy some excellent pulled pork (the rubs on the pork are GF). She was able to get a salad (be careful though, not all dressings are GF) and mashed potatoes as sides. The meal turned out great and the waitress was very knowledgeable in the precautions necessary. I'm not sure if this is standard protocol now but the GF meals are all plated in red plates where normal meals are plated on blue. I've dined here before but never with my celiac wife. Reading some of the recent reviews worried me, but we were pleasantly surprised and as always the food was fantastic.
A great option and good food. Separate gluten-free menu, and they take cross-contamination seriously. Their daily specials are often also gluten free. Our party had 3 people with Celiac disease, and they were kind, courteous, and very helpful during the entire ordering process. When they brought the food out the manager also came out to explain their whole process for avoiding cross-contamination. I've eaten here twice now and it's been great each time. Portions are huge, sauces on the wings are great, and wait staff is friendly.
If you love barbecue, you'll love this place. Off the gf menu, I had the jumbo BBQ chicken wings with the garlic chipotle sauce - delicious. I only ordered 3, but could have made a meal of just them. I then had the tres ninos which is a sampler of the BBQ brisket, ribs, and pork with 2 sides - I had rice and beans, and a tomato cucumber sauce for a total of $20 before tax. I had a hard cider that was a bit spendy at $7.50. Note: call ahead for reservations, especially on Friday night or a weekend. I was there on Friday at 7:00 pm and there was a 45 min wait for a table and it was packed with people waiting. It's a fun, boisterous place. I'll add some pictures.
Really great bbq and they have a gluten free menu. All of the sauces are gf but be careful because they will say they will be careful and bring everything on a separate plate.... but then the corn bread was on it touching my food. Mention no corn bread if you are celiac.
GF menu is available. Staff not super knowledgable but aware and helpful for food allergies and celiac. My daughter had the honey chicken wings and was fine. The dinner plates seem to come with a piece of corn bread. I didn't get a chance to ask if it was GF or not. Corn bread was not specifically listed on the Gf menu. So make sure to confirm to avoid sending a plate back. Hoisin chicken wings are listed on the GF menu which surprised me since hoisin sauce is typically not GF.
They have a large gluten free menu with many BBQ items but watch out. First they served me mac and cheese (NOT gluten free) and I had to explain that mac and cheese was not gluten free. Then when they served me my new meal, my pulled pork had a piece of mac and cheese in it, suggesting they just moved my other meal to a new plate. I tried to explain the issue of cross contamination to them but my waiter did not understand.
