I went to Early Bird last year and had a great experience. I felt confident eating there after hearing that the owner's daughter has celiac. I went last month with my family. My daughter and I are both celiac. She had the gf Johnny Cakes. She got very sick. It wasn't cross-contaminated, but definitely had gluten. She hadn't eaten anything before going to the restaurant. After it was clear she was contaminated, I called the restaurant and asked to speak to the owner. I ended up speaking to the manager who was very nice and said she would pass my contact info on to the owner so I can help them figure out where the problem was (I know it was the Johnny cakes). She also had potatoes, but so did I. I never heard from the owner. I called back a week or so later and left a message. The manager returned my call, but I wasn't able to take the call. I called back and left a message and never heard back from anyone. My daughter got very sick, but I was most concerned that someone who has a worse reaction (difficulty breathing...) would get exposed to gluten. I'm very disappointed.
